So my wife's birthday is coming up in a few days...and I know WHAT I want to get her, I just don't know how to go about getting it.

A couple of years back when we were still dating she had this Celtic pendulum/medallion/coin thing, and she loved it dearly. Unfortunately, it was lost in action when It was in my possession and I had a motorcycle accident. I've been looking for nearly a year to replace it, but I can't find anything like it.

She got it from a small gypsy stand at some metaphysical shop a long time ago, so just re-purchasing from the original vendor isn't an option.

I didn't know where else to look, so I posted here. Thanks all, in advance.

To the point; I'm going to post a picture of it, and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction on where I can find something similar. It's in her hand so you can gauge the rough size of the amulet, and see that it's not just a flat piece of metal.

It does look very pretty, it seems you have a lucky girl there, but i have really no clue where to get it from, a trip back to Ireland to get it seems a little bit intense, maybe search antique shops, they seem to have a lot of thingfs like that there, other than that, maybe Ebay?

I wish I could help you, as this is really a sweet and romantic gift idea. Sorry. Could always try showing the picture to some organization that might be able to identify it maybe. Dunno.

About three months ago I was visiting family in Norway and I actually did check a few shops there, as well as Ireland but couldn't find anything close. And now we're back home in Savannah, Ga.

I've been scouring ebay and google for about 5 hours now with little luck. I've found a few similar things, and I know I'll probably never find an exact match. I just figured I would broaden my chances by posting on le-forums.

I think the trick would be finding the metal, after that it would be simple engraving, and boring a hole through the middle....

But I can't even find just plain metal that shape... I've tried searching "Convex _____" "Pendulum" "Amulet" "Talisman" and several other things.

Going with the theme of very off topic, your wife had very long fingernails.

You could try and make it yourself which means double the awesomeness but If you're anything like me It would turn out a little off.

I'd considered that as well, and if I had the tools, I would happily attempt it. I've thought of trying it with wood, but once again - Don't have the tools. (Would be easiest with a belt sander and dremel) and wouldn't know how to preserve the wood, unless I dipped it in wax or something, and even that wouldn't do much...

Again, id suggest a Metal worker Or Jeweler, if You go And Ask Them that this is Exactly how you want it, they may be able to get something cast in that shape, Id guess That the metal it is might be bronze

So when I search for "Metal Workers" in savannah, ga all I find are Sheet-metal workers and welders..I don't think that's the kind of "Fine metalwork" I'm looking for. I guess my best option is to take a picture of it to a jeweler then...

sorry user name taken. said:

It's not dead on but it's kinda close.

Considering where she got it from I doubt you'll find a perfect match without re-making it.

But, seriously, isn't it the thought that counts not the gift? A dead on one would be weird, at least for me and my girlfriend.

Wow...I think I may have a winner. I'm going to go talk to some jewelers here in a couple of hours when things open up. Depending on quotes/leads I get with them, I may just go with what you found. Thanks a million!

You could try and take the picture to a metal shop and get one made. I think this should be an option if you cant go back to Ireland.

This is a stupid question; but what do you mean by "Metal Shop" because when I search for that, all I find are Sheet-metal workers, and welders.

I'd suggest going with something a bit different.
Celtic dreaming [http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.celticdreaming.com/images/products/large/IMG_ClwydPendant_ENL.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.celticdreaming.com/showproducts.php%3Fcurcat%3D20&usg=__vFuQ_F52pariZpHLqXrKV8BXOYM=&h=1127&w=550&sz=604&hl=en&start=94&um=1&tbnid=lYV8r0Dx0XR5rM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=73&prev=/images%3Fq%3Danglo%2Bsaxon%2Bstyle%2Bpendant%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial%26sa%3DN%26start%3D90%26um%3D1] has some rather attractive things in silver, but then it depends how much you want to spend.

While I do appreciate the gesture, and thank you for taking the time to search, something I did forget to mention is that it's not so much for the "Jewelry" aspect of it. She has plenty of rings and necklaces...this Medallion of hers was usually something she carried with her in her pocket, and would just hold it in her hands for comfort when she was stressed, or whatever.

Like the asian stress jingly ball things, or rubbing polished rocks.
