Need help from a little pony expert

So this thing about ponies is takeing over. So I thought "hey ill watch anything if its popular." So I do. I'm not a fan as it turns out. But a few minutes into the first episode a pony got into a chariot pulled by horses. This horses were male and she refereed to them as sirs.

Here is the thing they made mindless horse noises and left. Not once did they talk and during the whole ride the female horse ignored the males. So here is my question. In this universe when it come to horses are all the females semi-intelligent (they are fairly childlike) and all the males mindless beasts of burden? If this is the case I will definitely watch it I like my fantasy/sci-fi species weird and this is an interesting concept for a culture in a children's show.

Not really, in all the episodes the males are just as intelligent as the females. The show's just dominated by a female main cast. But I know what you're talking about now, I never noticed it at first

They're like those British royal guards - they do not talk while on duty.

Males do do a lot of manual labor in the show. Most of it infact, well the women of the show... deal with weather, design dresses, read, and bake things...

...How did I not notice that before?

I digress though, those males were just disciplined soldiers. Their orders were to take her there and get back asap, and they did. Males are just as intelligent.

I have not watched enough to see any men but these. I skimmed the next two perhaps too fast? Thanks for the answer. Ah it would have been interesting if one gender enslaved the other, and ether over time or by design the slave gender went mad.

This show is clearly nothing more than a thinly-veiled attack on males everywhere. KILL IT, KILL IT WITH FIRE!

On topic: Supposedly the males are just as intelligent. I wouldn't know, I only watched the first couple of episodes. It was fairly decent show, but I like other stuff better so I stopped watching it.

Lets just be honest, we need to see more of Applejack's family, period. Though for now I'll accept episodes featuring Apple Bloom as an adequate substitute.

There are males who are full people. None of them are main characters though.
The real issue is the racial caste system in Equestria.
Unicorns seem to be in all positions of power, pegasi seem to be in the middle class, while earth ponies are left in a servile role.

I did notice the size of horn denotes power. Although when the rainbow queen like pony made the dark pony good she shortened her horn which seemed to make her act childlike.

Actually I think that was the result of the Captain Planet Rainbow Laser Cyclone of Doom that made her small, alluding to that her original form was the smaller one before she went all evil.(kind of a crappy villain but, meh it's a kid's show)

It is interesting, isn't it? You hardly notice it, because the show centers around Twilight's group of friends. The male ponies are intelligent, as evidenced by a certain scene in episode 26 (you'll know it when you see it). The guard ponies are just on duty, and seem to be like the British guards (this is actually played with in one episode).

Honestly, it made me a bit sad to see that after their mostly excluding male characters. Not as some sort of weird, "Women are better" nonsense, but from the fact that this is the only show on TV these days where the women are in positions of power, holding down careers, and aren't shallow morons.
For a little girl, just seeing one cartoon where things are reversed from the typical patriarchy could be a huge paradigm shift- its not that men are inherently better then women, its just more common for them to be in power.

No one bats an eye when the only reoccurring female characters in Spongebob are token accomplished tomboy and teen moron. I'll take Spike and Big Macintosh over them any day.

A Bird in the Hoof show the guards talking, but they only utter a few lines of dialog. At their post, they don't move, talk, or even crack a smile, like highly disciplined guards.

Just throwing this out there, but how many shows can you think of where the overwhelming majority of the characters are male, with only a few bland or stereotyped females are present?

Even if MLP was sexist in that regard, it's only a drop in the bucket.
