Serious question: Is this show worth getting into? I've been toying with the idea for awhile.

No, just look at the fanbase, do you really want to be grouped in with them?

That ain't exactly my problem with the lot of you. But if I were to go into more detail on that subject, I'm fairly certain I'd get some mod punishment, so let's not.

What do you mean you people? What exactly is your problem with "the lot of [us]"? I'm genuinely interested as I haven't seen them do anything on this forum except have a lot of threads made about them (which isn't even the fandom's doing, I might add).

I think that holds true for everything; rule34 and all. If you don't want to do anything because somewhere a fan has weird fantasies then you probably won't ever do anything.

so the conspiracy theories of Troll-lestia being an Authoritarian leader that finds satisfaction in making her little ponies suffer has finally reached these shores.

Take notice of how many antagonizing things could have been prevented by Celestia just pointing out simple things.

Take notice the dissagrements and resentment created when Celestia only sends 2 tickets to the GGG to Twilight sparkle, knowing full well she has 6 friends.

Notice how she let Fluttershy who she knows is crazy about protecting animals go nuts over her Phoenix, and how she praised it after playing a horrible joke on her.

Truly Troll-lestia like any other Deity in Legend, feels pleasure and enjoyment while making her little ponies Suffer.

I noticed this in the pilot I watched. The horses use the power of friendship to weaken her sister and alter her personality. It also shortens her horn and makes her younger I'm assuming less powerful. Of course Troll-lestia gives the main character the task of researching friendship. Maybe its a family weakness and she needs to learn how to prevent it from being used on her. The ticket thing was maybe an expiration to see how she can stop that power. As hokey as a thing its gotta be hard to be nigh-omnipotent but have a weakness to emotions of others.

I always distrusted Papasmurf. All the other smurfs were vegetarians yet one episode he got gout. I understand you get gout from eating rich meats. I noticed there were fewer smurfs as the show went on was he eating them? Also he sent smurfs on a tough quest to get his gout cure which was near suicide from them. Gout is not fatal in the toe.

No one bats an eye when the only reoccurring female characters in Spongebob are token accomplished tomboy and teen moron. I'll take Spike and Big Macintosh over them any day.

Spongebob is a gay acceptance cartoon. So I think she is the token lesbian. Shes hairy, feels out of place, looking for someone like her. We can over analyze cartoons all day.

I don't get it- you as the OP point out the imbalance of the representation of the sexes in MLP, then when I point out the sexual representation in another cartoon, it earns a sarcastic remark about overanalysis?

I was joking a little bit sorry if I'm bad at that. I countered your over analyzing with my over over analyzing. Also my original question was not about a social imbalance in the sexes I was asking if one sex had intelligence and the other was braying beasts. Turns out I was wrong so that should make you feel better.

Well, the majority, (90+%) of the population is female, so the majority of prodominant figures, including the regal leaders are female. It is only natural that the men don't get as much credit as the women, there are just so much more fillies than there are colts.

A Bird in the Hoof show the guards talking, but they only utter a few lines of dialog. At their post, they don't move, talk, or even crack a smile, like highly disciplined guards.

Yeah, like the Guards outside Buckingham Palace (bearskin equivalent and all).

There are also quite a lot of references to Greek mythology: Manticore, Icarus (Rarity's wings) and the Cockatrice (I think that one is middle European though).

Although I have to admit, the creators do seem to like us bronies; Derpy's reappearance is a sign of that.

OT: Yeah, the males aren't shown as often as the females in most episodes, but they aren't all shown to be dumb labor-animals.

Episode 21: Over a Barrel features male ponies (and buffalo) in positions of pollitical power.
Honestly, it made me a bit sad to see that after their mostly excluding male characters. Not as some sort of weird, "Women are better" nonsense, but from the fact that this is the only show on TV these days where the women are in positions of power, holding down careers, and aren't shallow morons.
For a little girl, just seeing one cartoon where things are reversed from the typical patriarchy could be a huge paradigm shift- its not that men are inherently better then women, its just more common for them to be in power.
