Quite a while ago i had this game for my pc, it was called Fighters Anthology. i managed to get another copy after i lost my last one and i am trying to run it on my laptop (a new one, not one from the nineties). i have vista on my laptop and it is an hp pavilion entertainment pc.

well, i installed it and it took me as far as the menus before crashing when i tried to start a mission. actually, a little box popped up that said something like some protection program on my computer shut it down to protect my computer. well i looked all over the internet and i cant find any advice. i tried uninstalling it and re-installing it to see if that would work, but now it says there is an error copying files. should i give up on playing this game again? keep in mind, i was obsessed with this game when i was just a wee lad.

Figure out which program was shutting it down, search it out, and see if you can change the settings to allow the game to run.

Usually when im trying to play a really old game I play it on Xp compatibility. It works most of the time.

Try to see if you have any programs like that running, and if so, turn them off and see if that helps. Other then that I don't know. I heard Vista had a weird security system though that disallowed access to things it didn't like, so it could be that too. :/
Yup, Vista has something called the UAC (User Access Control or something like that) that functions to provide more security against unauthorized activities that programs might initialize.

It's really very spotty though.

OP: Make sure you put an exception for the .exe file in UAC, and start in XP SP3 Compatibility (if you have it).
