So, yeah, I just got a new desktop. First thing happy little me tries to do is install my Netgear WNA1100 wireless software. It goes smoothly, detects my USB and installs. 5 seconds after connecting to the network, BOOM, error restarts my system. Restart connect, crash. Took out the USB and no crash.

Tried running as administrator, nothing.

Tried Windows 7 compatibility, nothing.

Tried Windows XP compatibility, nothing.

Windows site says it's compatible, yet this shit proves otherwise.

Can't manually get the driver cause, well, you know...... NO INTERNET CONNECTION and my previous pc is DEAD.

I've been smashing my head against this brick wall for 5 hours now and I've got nothing but a Migrain of +5 FUCK and a stiff back. Oh, and my USB doesn't even want to register now.

WHAT DO!? >______<**

It would be helpful to know a little more. Do you get a blue screen of death, if so what does it say? I would also completely uninstall the device and plug it into a different USB slot. Fundamentally you need to get hold of the new drivers somehow, why not just move your PC to where you can wired connection for the 10 minutes that it takes to download and install new drivers.

Second. If it's not physically possible to plug your PC into a network hub I suggest you download the latest drivers using a mobile device or if necessary use another computer and transfer it using a USB flash drive. The drivers you're using are clearly borked and it's likely no amount of fuffing about is going to do any good without compatible ones.

Because the lazy, poorly trained jackass who set up my WiFi refused to set up a hardline.

Anyway guys, I got it working. Ran a system recovery to get rid of the borked driver. Opened the disc file and selected autorun to run in Windows 7 compatibility and administrator. The driver was preventing the setup from finding my adapter. Everything's running smooth, now.

It's trying to use Windows default drivers, and my guess is that there's something about your device that Windows doesn't like using the default drivers with.. My first recommendation is take a USB flash drive to a computer with a working internet connection (worst case scenario, try a library or something), download the offline driver installer, and run it on your computer after doing a system restore.
