Im thinking of getting some games from Steam but im not sure what to get. So could you guys recommend some that'll run reasonably well on a pretty weak computer. Ive already played Half-life, Portal and Mount & Blade.

Ahaha terraria. Painfully addictive. Don't get it if you have any other plans for the day.

Does it have to be on steam?

Because I can't think of a single game on there that won't run if your pc can run portal.

EDIT: meant on gog.com

Sim City 4 runs quite playable on my netbook, and Plants vs. Zombies is fun, too.

You should probably get Beyond Good & Evil. It might well be one of the best games available on Steam.

Killing Floor,
Killing Floor is a Co-op Survival Horror FPS set in the devastated cities and countryside of England after a series of cloning experiments for the military goes horribly wrong. You and your friends are members of the military dropped into these locations with a simple mission: Survive long enough to cleanse the area of the failed experiments
Multiplayer

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45
Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Red Orchestra places you in the most realistic WWII first-person multi-player combat to date on the PC, allowing the player to fight through some of the most intense combat of the war.
Multiplayer

Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod is a physics sandbox. Unlike regular games there aren't any predefined aims or goals. We give you the tools and leave you to play.
You spawn objects and weld them together to create your own contraptions - whether that's a car, a rocket, a catapult or something that doesn't have a name yet - that's up to you.
If you're not too great at construction - don't worry! You can place a variety of characters in silly positions.
Singleplayer

Three games that'll probably run fine on any PC and are very, very good.

Oh, okay.

Well, that just means 90% of things on gog will probably run. I think the most recent game is still from 2004, hahaha.

Specs might help?

Generally, anything made by Valve will run pretty well on older machines. Would need your specs and what sort of games you like to be able to point you towards stuff though.

Witcher 2 is cheating:p

I'll give you Witcher 1 thuogh.

But they still fall in the 10% space I left for games to not run, even if I had a lapse of sense in naming release dates :p

SpaceChem. A puzzler that involves taking a chemical or molecule and processing it to mke another chemial or molecule. I know, it sounds like your grade 10 science class all over again, but it really is one of the most intruiging puzzlers out there for under 10$. Don't believe me, download the demo.
