Well, I'll definately be getting for the 360, since my computer is dead. Is Morrowind unplayable on a console?

I enjoyed all the games but Bethesda needs to add a bit more variety to their settings. i felt like Oblivion was all green and forresty and Fallout was a damp yellow. (except for that one part)

Morrowind seemed to have a better variety in settings and color palettes than the other 2, but It has been a while since I've played it.

Absolutely not. I played it on the console just fine. I also have it on PC for the toolset, from back in the day when I considered myself a modder.

Also, Morrowind is by far the superior game. Varied landscapes, interesting characters, a truly open world, and some great battles. These are things Morrowind has and Oblivion does not. I also like the leveling system in Morrowind better. You can actually use the skills you pick as your major and minor set, while in Oblivion you're better off just leveling your miscellaneous skills unless you like monsters gnawing on your thighs. Be warned, there's very little by way of a tutorial in Morrowind. You're pretty much dumped into the world and are free to explore as you see fit. I enjoyed this thoroughly, but some people like linearity. There is also very little leveling of monsters, which means there are some areas of the map that will always house level 30 daedra even if you're level 2. This makes exploring a little challenging, but again, also more fun for me (there are plenty of ways to escape should you wander somewhere you shouldn't have). Mess around with it, read some hints on character creation if you want to make sure you can survive the game, and then have fun. It's a great RPG.

Morrowind was better in it's day. but now it feels quite old to play. the xbox version was hard to control. and the move set in combat is more limited than the PC version. but it was more immersive than Oblivion. if you want to play both play Morrrowind on the PC first.

Do you mean there are backwards compatibility issues, or that it's been patched for the 360?

So Morrowind on 360 is a bad idea? Any partiular reason why?

it was just harder to control and there were fewer combat moves.

If you don't have a PC, there's no reason to buy Oblivion at all. The graphics are nice, but vanilla (unmodded) Oblivion is terribly boring after a few hours. Morrowind is far superior in all areas except for graphics.

I am a massive Oblivion fan and have never played Morrowind, so I would say Oblivion, purely because it looks better, the AI system is much better aad its a realistic (some would say generic but I disgaree)environemnt to play in. Also a modded oblivion adds untold amounts of hours to gameplay. I think I could only play morrowind if I modded graphics and AI first.
If you've never played Morrowind, how do you know that Oblivion is so much better? There are more mods out for Morrowind than there are for Oblivion, and people are still making them (thanks to the Construction Sets made for both games). As for the AI, you overestimate the difference. It's really not that noticable.

I would start with morrowind, it is a much better game, even it is starting to show its age. It is a lot slower paced and harder than Oblivion, but it is also a lot derper and more interesting.

The xbox version of Morrowind GotY doesn't work on 360, only the version that was originally released. Which aside from having less content, also lacks a few small but important things, like being able to see how much hp an enemy has. Doesn't sound like much of an issue, but it will screw you over. So yeah, morrowind is deffo one for the PC (think it was added to steam recently along with oblivion).

Personally there's alot of stuff in Morrowind that I like more than in oblivion. It's a much more interesting world and culture, a more varied map and has a fair chuck more depth. But I've got to say it hasn't aged well. Compared to Oblivion, the combat is sticky and early on victory is a matter of random chance, until a fair amount of leveling. Oblivion is alot more playable overall. my advice would be play oblivion first then morrowind if your still hungry .

If they were developed in reverse order, and morrowind was the newer game, it would be hands down the best. Don't get me wrong, I'm massively nostalgic about my hundreds of hours spent in the first game, but now today, despite its flaws numero IV is top dog.

I tried to play Moorowind last month. I got a graphics mod that removed all that godam mist and let you see more than 2 meters in front of you. But i could jsut not play it. The combat is terrible, the locations (cities) are interesting but far too small, the country side is boring as hell, and the NPC's look and sound like stroke victims. I know its an old game, but i just couldnt see why people though oblivion was worse. Just because it was newer and shinier doesnt mean its worse.

I'd recommend Morrowind for the PC. Sure, the combat is a single notch above atrocious (especially when starting out), but it is much larger, both in size and in amount of quests, than Oblivion. It is also far more satisfying to uncover valuable treasures, like daedric armor and weapons, because unlike Oblivion, those treasures are absurdly rare.

If you want a game that has fun combat and nifty quests, pick Oblivion.

If you want a game that will suck at first, and then immerse you into an (damn this word) "epic" freaking adventure, go for Morrowind.

Oh yes, and the special weapons in Morrowind are cooler than those in Oblivion, especially Trueflame.

both are very good but i would probably go with morrowind since its got a huge open world and you can find it in a bargain bin for about 10 bucks.

Morrowind has better locations, better quests, better level scaling (it's not that noticable), better combat, better voice acting (ie: less voice acting, which is a good thing), more depth, and aside from Mournhold the cities are actually IN the game world rather than shitty independant cells.

oblivion bad game

I played Morrowind a long while ago, and just started playing Oblivion a few months ago. Both have their good points and bad points. I only played the PC versions. I recommend Morrowind, merely because I've been playing RPGs for almost 20 years, including playing pen-and-paper RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons. Morrowind is a better RPG: More immersive, better characterization, feels like you're playing an RPG (yes, you're supposed to be useless at the beginning of game....thats what "experience" measures), I don't have NPCs walking into things, the landscape is varied enough for it to not be boring, I had to actually explore the map and search out things for quests instead of following a pointer, and I have to have actual magical talent to be the bloody Mages Guild. The combat is not the greatest, and the graphics show their age, but I'm willing enough to put up with those things in exchange for a good experience. Oblivion is far too generic and not immersive for me to play it for anymore than an hour or so. Morrowind was a game I could truly get lost in.
