Alright guys, I need some help.

I'm wanting to trade my 360 for a PS3. Thing is, I have a lot of games installed on the system from XBLA, 22 in fact, including a full xbox original game (Indigo Prophecy). I also have 10 360 games to trade.

It's a 20 gig 360 btw. So should I just say I want to do a straight trade, all these games included? Should I sell the 360 games seperately? Should I ask for a straight trade OR an approximate price?

I just called Gamestop, they're offering me 110 for the system. A basic PS3 is $300, so that is definitely out of the question.

Thanks in advance.

First, don't bump your own thread, and if you do, at least wait until a couple of hours have passed, not 10 minutes.

Second, I don't think there's anyway to retrieve value from your XBLA games. As far as I know, they're tied to your account, and unless you manage to sell that, you won't get anything for them.

Third, the games your selling are very important factors here. I doubt you'll be able to earn $190 to buy a PS3 though, unless all are recent, nevermind the fact that any additional games you purchase will be adding onto the cost.

Fourth, 20 GB hard drive is next to worthless now, don't expect it to add any real value to your console.

So, ultimately, unless you're willing to spend more money to make the switch, I don't think you'll be able to. And out of curiosity as well, why are you wanting to make the switch? Are there a few exclusives you can't live without or something?

Try Craigslist. You get more than Gamestop would give you, and the person buying pays less than at Gamestop.

I deleted all profiles, but the games are on the HD. They're still playable, and they're really nothing to scoff at:

Arkadian Warriors
Bomberman Live
Castle Crashers
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Comix Zone
Every Extend Extra Extreme
Geometry Wars
Heavy Weapon
Hexic HD
Ikaruga
Indigo Prophecy (Full Xbox Original game!)
Jetpac Refueled
N+
Puzzle Quest (+ expansion)
Rez HD
Small Arms
Smash TV
Streets of Rage 2
Uno
Warlords
Worms

I'm not sure how much they should be worth all together, but it's not a bad selection IMO.

Fight Night Round 4
Blue Dragon
Halo 3
Dynasty Warriors 7 (this JUST came out, cost me 60 dollars)
GTA4
Madden '06
Viva Pinata
Halo 2
Naruto: Rise of a Ninja
Dead Rising
Prey

Yeah...too bad.

There are a few reasons. The PS3 offers free online, so I can actually watch Netflix on my PS3 for free (which I can't do now and I'm not fucking paying extra when I already pay for netflix). I can use adhoc to play Monster Hunter, which is by far my favorite game series of all time. Also, the 360 and PS3 share mostly the same games, and the 360 exclusives are not appealing to me.

If you can sell them somehow great, but I was just saying that I didn't know if you could. I still don't have a great idea on how you're planning on having them sold though. I had thought they had been tied with your account, like a Steam thing, and the only way to sell them once more would be to sell them by selling the account. If you have some method of selling them though, great, but I don't know how you plan on doing that.

While you may be able to make something back for Dynasty Warriors, I doubt you'll get much for the rest. Since the majority of these titles have been out for years, I don't know how much you'll be getting from them. Sports titles are the worst for this, expect your copy of Madden to get you only cents in value.

If it's for the Netflix and such I can understand, and you brought up the point I was going to make on the majority of titles being released on both platforms. My main thing is though to weigh the values of each against each other. I'm sure you'll be coming up short for a PS3, especially when you include taxes, and even more when you include the costs of any additional games or features.

My advice, save up for the moment. Earn and hold onto a bit of cash right now, perhaps try selling it online first before selling it to Gamestop, and while you're doing that, continue to enjoy your Xbox. Trying to sell it now will likely leave you short, and then with nothing to play. Next, while getting some cash together, put the Xbox and the games onto eBay or Craigslist or something. If you sell it, great, you'll probably be getting more than by selling it to Gamestop. Have your games up for sale as well, and include your cheaper ones with the console for incentive. If this fails though, and you don't manage to sell it for a better price, go down with the money you had saved up as well during this time, sell the Xbox and games to Gamestop, and buy your PS3. I'd say to save up ~$150 and then go in for the purchase so you don't wind up just breaking even. I doubt their offer will decrease by much by this point, you may get a better offer, and you don't wind up having nothing to play for however long it takes you to earn the rest of the money you need for this.
