Need some help with finding a specific movie.

I'm at my wit's end here. A while back I zapped into a movie shown on TV about an old blind man who had saved up all his wellfare money to go to vegas and commit suicide with a bang (The epic party kind, not the scary kind). He enlisted the help of a kid, doing community service to overcome the obvious obstacle of being blind. A quote that stuck: ''John Daniels, cause if you've known the man as long as I do, you know his real name.''
The movie is set in a Sinatra-ish vibe and really moved me. However, I can't remember the name! Will the glorious Hive-Mind that is the internet help me out?

Definitely Scent of a Woman. A pretty terrible Al Pacino movie IMO, considering how good Al Pacino is - the fact that you didn't mention it stars Al speaks volumes .

Haha, to be honest the only actor I recognise in anything is Morgan Freeman, because he is god! Also, my memory might be blurred, but the fact that I still remember it after all these years (more then 5, at the very least) must mean something... Next objective: ''Finding a store that still carries it! >.>
