Cambridge uni has also just come up with a way of adding to an animals genetic structure so that it starts producing molecules not found naturally in the world without any long term side effects.

I imagine if such a being existed it would have a top hat and a monocle, at all times.

Four monocles (well, at least for the majority of spiders). And four walking canes. Because spiders could roll that way.

See, this sort of thing is why I say science needs to look more into nature for cures to our problems. Nature's had a lot of time to work on awesome stuff.
