Exit Path is pretty nice, has a similar feel to Portal. It can be finished pretty quickly though.

There's also the Four Second Frenzy games which are fun, but more often than not I wind up ragequitting after about a half hour.

I'm shocked that no one's brought it up yet, or at least I didn't see anyone bring it up.
Echo Bazaar. if you can get past the whole "need to log in using facebook or twitter" aspect of it, it's great fun.
Doesn't require an awful lot of dedication to play either, just a few minutes a day. I played for about two weeks before I got caught up in other things and stopped thinking about it. I had fun while I did though.

Minecraft works in browsers.

EDIT:Oh, i didn't read previous posts. Other than minecraft, i don't think that there are any worthy browser games. Maybe just this one : http://www.kongregate.com/games/NirTivAal/edgey-mcedgersons-hedge-edger

I just remembered this site called Gamejolt. There are a whole bunch of games that can be launched from the browser. There are some pretty good games, some games that are bad, and of course there are some that are so bad that they are good. Like Space Toaster vs. Tomatos. Yes, the misspelling is intentional.

Some of the recurring MMO type browser games you can try:

Adventure Quest is alright... visuals are aimed at a younger demographic though

Cybernations is good if you want to run a nation

ERepublic is a broken lump of poo

Kings of Chaos used to be good once

Nationstates is basic but an oldie and a goody

Travian can be a lot of fun if you line up with a good alliance and start early enough in a server

Echo Bazaar is pretty damn good

Haven't played Evony, but I've heard it's alright

Also, for kicks you should play Every Day the Same Dream at work...

Kongregate has some awesome games

Stick Wars is an addicting strategy game
Amea is a Super Metroid like horror game with a good story. The voice acting could use some work.
Rebuild is a zombie survival game. Sort of like Oregon trail
The fancy pants games are fun platformers

Allow me to give you a quote out of context: "You stand no chance against me, 'cause I'm actually four blokes!"

That's from Mardek, AKA the best flash JRPG ever written. And it plays well too. Play it already.

A few minutes too late to mention Echo Bazzar...
Damn. Kudos to you kind sir.

Anyways... Browse Newgrounds, Armor Games and Kongregate. Adult Swim too, maybe...
On the websites i mentioned, not all of them are long lived, but they are preety fun.

Be sure to check for games made Coolio on Newgrounds and Armor games. Ho and keep an eye out for Picross

Oh! You could also check out Syfy.com's BSG browser MMO. It seems heavily PVP based and is generally a space flight combat...sim...thing...
