OK, so I just bought World of Warcraft. I load it to my computer and download the 4.76Gb of patches. Afterward I try to play the game and I get a message saying "Launcher cannot obtain patching information." So instead of going through the launcher I go through the exe file. Now I'm in the game but every time I try to log in it goes to download another patch and then a second later I get an Error #132 message.

Actual error message:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:00DF2DE4

The instruction at "0x00DF2DE4" referenced memory at "0x0000012D".
The memory could not be "read".

So my question is does anyone know what this really is and/or how to fix it?
I have checked a bunch of different forums and checked the support page at Blizzard.

what antivirus are you running? Cause the new patcher uses peer to peer it can be blocked etc. Think avast is patiqulary bad for it.:( try adding an exception for wow or opening ports (or yknow, i dont advocate it but turning off antivirus/firewalls while you pach)

I'm using Norton( I know it sucks but it is what I have), I have made an exception for wow and opened all of the ports needed for it. Had to, to get a decent download speed.

Have you tried the dreaded reinstall? You could have a corrupt file somewhere in the launcher...It sounds to me like the launcher is trying to look for new data and is hitting a wall.

Also, has this only happened today? It's maintenance day the week before the expansion...We're likely to get a patch of some kind. Maybe the launcher knows to expect a patch, but the patch hasn't been pushed through yet.

The old uninstall, reinstall works if you're patient.
The old uninstall, cancel account also works, but that's not what you want to hear.

Seems Like a problem I had once with a incorrect patching error: I renamed the original Patch folder and made a new Patch folder with nothing in it. It solved it for me

Well there's A problem. If you have a friend who plays WoW, try flogging their data file for the game onto a Ext' HDD, run it at home and if it works just delete the one on your PC and use that.

That isnt an error on your side. Too many people are downloading at once. There are always a few 100 in the opening box, but sometimes it becomes to many. So, go do something else for a while, or keep trying. Took me 4 hours, but a friend only tried 5 times aka for 2 minutes.
