Well, I hear Valve are quite open to contact. You can probabbly try to shoot them an email. Runic Games (the guys behind Torchlight 1/2, also some of them worked on Diablo 2) seem to be really nice overall and I doubt they'll turn you down easily - just try them. I'm pretty sure most small-ish developers are really nice people and wouldn't mind answering some questions. Bigger companies tend to have more rigid structure, chains of command and more cogs and wheels, so the devs themselves might not be easily reachable for non-game/company related matters.
But since you're asking for "game industry" you could try non-devs, I suppose. I'm not sure who but there are a few other people that can still count. Reviewers, modders (more renowned ones, supposedly) and gaming journalists of some description, for example. I don't know many of them, at least I don't know many that make a habit of answering questions and such, but it's not hard to just ask them, I suppose. For example, I know you can get ahold of wesp5 (the guy in charge of the Unofficial Patches for Bloodlines) as well as Burgermeister01 (Clan Quest Mod, again, for Bloodlines) over at Planet Vampire. They have emails posted here [http://planet-vampire.net/modules/Burgermeister/credits.php] as well. Game Grumps (Egoraptor and Jontron from YouTube) have a email, too...somewhere. Also Facebook page, etc. And so on and so forth - there are lots of people to contact, if you just blanket email 10 people, you'll probably get at least 5 replies.
