There is a program that does this without having to run a separate application. It just puts a couple buttons under any video you watch and lets you download the video in different resolutions and even in MP3 format.

Does anyone know what it is called? I can't remember the name :(

I'll take any program like this. As long as I don't have to open up a new window and copy/paste URLs and all that jazz.

Thanks.

Since Google is awful they are cracking down on anything like that. If there was an add-on like that it probably doesn't work anymore.

I believe this is what you're looking for. Despite what the link says, there is a version for chrome and safari as well.

There are tons of these add ons for Chrome, Firefox better have one as well. But, Google may disallow certain videos if they have Copyrighted songs.

There was Saveyoutube.com, but they got downed. They're transition to savemedia.com.

I also use Free Youtube Downloader(Yes, that's what it's called). It has a red TV icon and if my web based methods of saving the vid don't work, I can use this as an alternative

Granted there's a few vids on Youtube immune to both :/

I use Flash and video download, very simple, though sometimes you can not see which format you are saving the file as when it has a l file name

Realplayer crashes too often.

I use Download Helper. Nifty app for Firefox. Just a couple button clicks and the video's yours, in whatever format you like. Granted, there are some videos you can't download for whatever reason, but it works for the majority of them.
