If this overhauls means I can play Oblivion in some fashion, I'm excited. I've never been able to stomach more than 10 hours of Oblivion... xD

Yea...kinda regretting getting Oblivion on my 360 now. On the other hand, I doubt my system could run this or Oblivion decently. Either way, I may have to suck it up and see how much a copy of the pc version is nowadays. Or is obtaining it in the "less than legal" way alright if I already bought the game on another platform?

I remember vaguely hearing about this mod, so this is exciting news!

Oblivion is what made me buy a new computer a couple years ago because it killed my prior PC to run. Mods for the game are so good that I would actually pay for the user-made ones over some of the official ones ha ha!

I get nervous when I fiddle around with my computer, so I have yet to do any extensive mod-downloading as of yet. If I get Oblivion for the PC then I might consider downloading it, but I'm always really nervous I'm going to fuck up my computer (yet again!) if I download something I don't know.
With Oblivion and Morrowind, I found the modding quite user-friendly if you stick with just a few mods. I would recommend reading a few basic tutorials so you get the gist of everything and just stick with a few sites like TES Nexus and planeteldeerscrolls for the downloads. The worst that could happen is you would have to just reinstall the game and try to figure out where the mods conflicted (for example).
I can't trust myself with a computer, I always end up fucking it up somehow. Like recently, how I unknowingly and STUPIDLY downloaded a friggin' malware program on my brand new, 1 month old computer.

Needless to say, I was [/headdesk]-ing myself up to a bloody pulp.

The game is fairly cheap on Steam, $20 the regular game (with Knights of The nine and Shivering Isles included), or you can get the "deluxe" edition for $25, it includes every single of the DLC available, including the infamous Horse Armor.

Also, a couple of months ago, the game was discounted at $7 or $5, I don't quite remember. Gotta love Steam's insane discounts.

*knuckle crack* Well, time to re-fuel the midnight oil, because i got a whole lot of it to burn.

I can't blame you, I'm quite poor with a computer, especially when compared to many who regularly play PC games and understand most of the technical aspects. Surprisingly though, Oblivion and Morrowind are approachable enough. I honestly have no idea how in the hell I get by without arming my computer into a time-bomb some days, so that has to say something about the mod support for those games!

Yes you need Oblivion installed...but if you have a normal edition it installs sperate to keep your other mods safe but if you have the steam version like me you have to have everything installed together and disable all your other mods..not that hard but it's worth it ive about an hour in and its fun.
You'll have to excuse, I'm fairly computer illiterate. If I download it now and buy oblivion later, can I install the mod when I've installed the game without re-downloading the mod? I will be buying a hard copy of it from amazon or somewhere.
Yes, just run the executable after you install oblivion.

Also, THIS IS SO AWESOME, DSFNSDKJFASD

Downloading and reinstally oblivion now.

And of course, windows vista makes it impossible to install... I'll have to reboot into safe mode to run the .exe

I now regret buying the PS3 version. Well I I hadnt I would have probably never played the game. I don't usually mod my PC games. Except Star Trek Bridge Commander where the mods outnumber the original files about 5 times and it's quite unstable (but AWESOME). If I see Oblivion going cheap one day I may consider re-buying it. I never did get the Shivering Isles expansion.

Tamriel Rebuilt. I hear the Hammerfell project split from the Morrowind one though. And Who needs Oblivion anyway?

Silly. Everyone knows the only reason to buy Bethesda games is modding. Especially since Oblivion is a terrible, hateful game without them.

Haha, so very, very true. I've been a mod-junkie for years now (First Modblivion and then Fallmod) and I've never looked back. I think the reason Bethesda make their games so visually bland is to give us modders something to do.

C'mon, don't diss the TES series! What's so bad about them?

Tamriel Rebuilt is just making mainland Morrowind... also I think the Hammerfell project might have been discontinued.

However, there's a much larger group called Beyond Cyrodiil that are making all the provinces, each team making a specific one. So far they've definitely made lots of progress on Morrowind, Elsweyr is finished, Valenwood is well on the way and the other ones are very secretive about it...

You can always just play Arena and get some randomly generated boringfest.

I loved Oblivion to bits. Granted it glitches at the end of the Thieves guild questline and trapped me in a room, but I really enjoyed it. The reason I didn't get it for PC is because my laptop couldn't even run Morrowind. I only got a good enough PC a few months ago and I've got plenty of PC games to get through.

Actually a question that isn't answered in the article: You say an English translation. Does that mean the voices have been redone, or is it just the subtitles and UI?

It's really good that these sorts of things get reported by the escapist but now the torrent slowed down so I've got to wait longer :(.

In all seriousness this looks very nice and I can't wait to give it a go.

Finally sees the light? Bull. I played it 3 months ago in german. Great game it is survival horror at the beginning btw ;)
Also the donators DO NOT accept donations, because so many worked on it it would be hard to distribute the money fairly.

You get the (high quility) original voiceactors but a translated ui and text
