Just read this funny news story:

DJ's Van Halen outrage

A British DJ has come underfire from mental health groups after playing Van Halen's "Jump" moments before a suicidal woman leapt from a bridge.

Steve Penk was broadcasting on 96.2FM The Revolution recently when four lanes of the M60 had to be closed because of the drama.

As police attempted to talk the woman down, a listener phoned in to request the rock classic, which was then aired.

Penk played it after expressing his sympathy for road users, but the unidentified individual then jumped from the 30ft bridge.

She only suffered minor injuries but the DJ has been slammed for his actions and accused of acting in "very poor taste" by Mind.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for The Samaritans commented: "It shows a lack of compassion and understanding".

Some listeners were also outraged by Penk's behaviour, with Lorna Guinn calling it "pathetic and nasty".

"It's irresponsible - this woman could have overheard it on someone's car stereo", she said.

However, Penk has insisted he would do the same thing again. "The entire area had been thrown into total chaos by a single troubled woman.

"I was very sorry to hear that the lady had subsequently jumped from the bridge but relieved that her injuries were minor.

"If, as has been suggested, the woman jumped because she heard it from a passing car radio that's unfortunate. But I don't regret playing it for a minute", he said.

I found that rather amusing If I do say so myself...

What's the most inappropriate thing you think could be done at the most inoppurtune moment?

And do keep it clean please...

Playing Radiohead when someone's trying to talk to you about their depression's usually pretty inappropriate. :)

When the person called did they choose to inform him that this situation with the woman was occurring? If not this guy is getting flamed for not knowing something he's never been told...

Though that does sound consistent with certain blame-happy behaviors of many people over the age of 30.

Wow, that's pretty damn hilarious! I don't know of anything that could be better.

From my understanding, someone at the scene called it in as a request because of the situation. The woman was holding up the entire damn 4 lane motorway, so the DJ obliged the request knowing full well what was going on...

Fixed it.

[sub]How is radiohead "depressed" at all?[/sub]
When you're depressed and listening to Karma Police, the lyrics don't matter, it just sounds so mournful... But I do concede to your superior choice of music for the chronically depressed. :)

Ah well. Still, more power to him, I'd argue. I mean, I tend to think that if you're going to commit suicide then you might as well strongly consider the ins and outs of it for a while, then chose and if you're going to, succeed properly. I mean, rather than create some spectacle, possibly for attention, possibly not, where you tie up everyone else in it and do a great job at trying and failing...

A friend of mine told me about the time they were driving back from his grandmother's funeral, and My Michelle by Guns 'n' Roses came on the radio. His grandomother's name was Michelle. Apparently, everybody laughed. That's respecting the dead alright.

Hmm I believe I quote Bender "DO A FLIP"

TBH I really don't care, She was holding up so many people for her poor excuse for self control and will. If you wanna spit back at the universe for giving you life, by all means go ahead, but don't expect sympathy for me if I get a pay deduction for being late for work because of your idiotic ass.

After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans the local radio station played 'New Orleans is sinking' by The Tragically Hip. The same station played 'Superman's Dead' by Our Lady Peace after Christopher Reeve died.

Those kind of moments are rare but I wouldn't have said that was disrespectful.

I was at a funeral (cremation) a few months ago and when the curtains closed and the vicar walked away, I could have sworn he handed a box of matches to the janitor... Needless to say I very inappropriately pointed this out to everyone moments later...

What can I say? I love awkward moments...

While in a german hotel me and my roomates noticed a couple across the road in a rooftop flat, they started getting...busy....they then stopped, and the man looked out the window while stark naked.

I waved.

Que curtians and a angrish letter to hotel.
Lol what could he possibly have a go at the hotel for? Having windows?

That's what you get for not pulling your blinds. You should have taken a picture and nailed it to his door...

So i watched not another teen movie a couple of days ago and i gotta say that one was better for me because i could actually see it.

Anyways trying to get the girl of his dreams a guy starts singing the song janie has a gun(because of bad advice), the girl in question being named janie. They are at school at the time so yeah everyone gets hysterical and janie gets tackled by the cops.
