To start, my apologies on the bias stuff. friendly argument it is.NxFelix said:Aaaand, drumroll please...daheikmeister said:Jeez man it was just a joke. Though if you consider it technilogically (which the joke was based off), an 8 foot tall super soldier with power armor, a mini RPG launcher (aka the boltgun) and in some cases a power weapon, against a bunch of oversized rats with Renaisance era knives and popguns? Yeah, he'd win.
And you still have to maneuver in 40k, because if you just stand still then any army with arillery can rip you apart. The rules between fantasy and 40k are relatively the same, so any point you make about 40k tactics would generally apply to fantasy as well. Get rid of your bias.
BTW 3 colours is just my peronal army's colour scheme; it doesn't apply to all armies. Choice of colours is entirely up to the painter, so as previously mentioned: get rid of your bias.
FTW. It's just a friendly argument about it anyway, and if you play Warhammer, you know what a friendly argument is. BTW, I have played 40k, until it made my Dark Eldar suck tits, so I moved to Fantasy, summarily got my ass handed to me until I knew what I was doing. You should give it a go, but all of the armies are very specialized, so you have to know what you want. If you want complete broken-ass army, you can go Tzinch (I think that is how you spell it). I have a list that is 1000 pts, no core and 28 power dice in the magic phase (Lord of change). And if you had ever read the fluff for skaven, you would know why the Space marine would get his ass rammed. A whole Space Marine Army? Yes, but one lone space Marine? Hell to the no. He would be there, and the ground off in the distance would get darker, than he would get grazed by a warp Lightning Cannon, than he would see two giant hamster wheels coming at him, rapid fireing warp lightning, as the ground near him started to move, and the rats began crawling and stabing, and ripping and tearing, and shoosting. More than 7 Marines would be a problem, but fluff-wise... they would die.struwwelman said:I'm sorry, daheikmeister but NxFelix is right; Fantasy is to a great extent won or lost in the movement phase, mostly because of the block formations. A flank or rear attack can make a huge difference, and 40k simplifies combat by allowing you to move in the assault phase, which reduces the complexity of the movement phase again. Anyone who plays both fantasy and 40k can tell you that.
I hadn't considered the block formations limiting your movement. That must really be annoying if you want to battle it out at full pelt. However, in regards to movemtn in the assualt phase, all I can think of is the charge, which is really just rushing if you're in 5 inches of the enemy. Though in mention to your Tzeentch army (tricky name I know, but this is how you spell it) I should tell you a bit about my army.
Death Heralds, the ghosts of the second legion
The Death Heralds are the second legion of the Space Marines. Like the Dark Angels their legion was split in half during the Horus Heresy, but in their case it was their primarch Arcturus Mutan who fell along with half the legion. Brother fought brother, but the side that won in the end was that which stood loyal to the Emperor's light, though only a thousand battle brothers remained. However, before the loyalists could slay their fallen primarch, he escaped to the warp, where he became a Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. The captain of the Death Heralds' first company Giddeon Verkonas became the Chapter Master, and swore an oath to find and kill their primarch, as proof that the Death Heralds remain true to the Emperor's light. The Deatyh Heralds are the only Chapter to send in repeated attacks into the Eye of Terror, and have become the Inquisition's primary tool against the Black crusades, as they destroy Chaos bases, kill Chaos Lords, and generally do everything in their power to destroy Chaos in all it forms in their territory. Surprisingly enough, not a SINGLE battle brother of the Chapter has fallen to Chaos since the Horus Heresy. This is due to a combination of their exposure to the chaos energy during the Heresy, and that they take up all their initiates from Cadian Kasrkins and people of the world Terhan, which is a planet at the edge of the Eye of Terror, who are hardened to it's energy.
So to reign in this long explanation, my Chapter (at least story wise, but I'm working on some personal rules) are extremely resistant ot chaos energy so the Chaos lightning wouldn't do as much as you think. Besides, if you've ever seen what an RPG does to armor, those hamster wheels would be a bunch of broken bits of wood and metal LOOOOOONG before they could take my marine down. Though he may run out of ammo before he can kill them all......
So yeah, the marine would probably get taken down, but not for lack of trying. Maybe my Land Raider Crusader could do it?
