Lawful Neutral

At the end of the day, I don't care about kindness, love, or 'goodness' in general, which makes me neutral. I do, however, care about equality, liberty, and justice, which puts me in lawful.

In all honesty, either Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral, or Chaotic Evil depending on my mood. Yeah, it varies quite a lot...

Too many people seem to not understand how this system works.

The first is approach to laws and rules. That's not something that change depending on mood. It's whether or not you accept laws as applying to you. If you are "chaotic" then you will not EVER stop at a red light on an empty street. You will not hesitate to steal from stores whenever the heck you feel like it. You will commit to insurance-fraud in the blink of an eye.

If you follow the rules and laws most of the time but have a "flexible" approach to it then you're neutral. That's the very definition of neutral in that category.

The second one is easier; that's simply personal morals. Self-sacrificing or ego-centric with "neutral" marking a rough balance between those two.

The whole "lol im chaotic/good because that sounds so edgy and rebellious yet sympathetic" is just sad. I'm willing to bet a major internal organ that nearly none of the people that have written "chaotic/good" have ever actually committed a felony. Which you'd have to have done to make "chaotic" even remotely correct.

And no, if you'd commit a felony "under the right circumstances and for the right reasons" then you're not chaotic; you're neutral. Cut out the posing.

Neutral Good. Whether or not I follow the law is subjective to the situation. Though as a superhero fan, I'd probably try for a chaotic solution to a lawful ending.

Lawful good.

I understand the need for, appreciate and follow society's laws. Have I broken them before? Yeah, here and there (specifically driving above the speed limit on the highway). But not so frequently or inconsiderably to call myself anything but lawful.

I'm surprised at how few have said lawful good. I think most people have a very narrow view of what lawful good entails. It doesn't only mean being the one-track-minded paladin.

Edit:

Clarifying

I knowingly commit evil acts in order to balance out my normally goody-two-shoes life. I like structure in my life but am prone to spontaneity. I think of myself was True Neutral with good tendancies

Neutral Evil, I have found that when push comes to shove, when life gets hard and really pushes on you with all it has... most people are Neutral Evil deep down.
I'd actually say most Americans are Lawful Evil, we would literally be worshiping Hextor in the streets here since Fascism is chic.

Last time I checked, which was some months ago, I was Lawful Good. I don't imagine it's changed all that much, as my thoughts and personality are still more or less the same. I suppose I might have a few chaotic tendencies however.
I guide myself and my own actions on a pretty strict code of conduct (though I consider it mainly based on "don't be a selfish prick"), and believe that others would benefit from doing the same.

Chaotic Neutral...

...in the sense that I'm more or less a spontaneous lunatic that does all kinds of crazy things at a whim (with a crazy maniacal laughter of a lunatic). My mood largely governs my actions, meaning that whether someone lives or dies may largely change depending on how i feel, the weather or whatever happens to make me happy or angry at that particular moment. I don't know sorrow and sympathy, and would hardly lift an eyebrow if someone killed my family, and i don't mind killing, but i don't kill for sports or entertainment either. I regard my life with little care, meaning that I'm partly suicidal, and won't back off from a fight no matter the odds, if only to have a chance to laugh at the enemy if i manage to defeat them before i cut them into pieces.

That's my Baldur's Gate portrait right there. Psychotic killer *****!

Definitely chaotic. Probably chaotic neutral.

Chaotic good.
From time to time i act as chaotic neutral, but at my core i am good. :)

BTW :
I was always curious about "LAWFUL". I mean, it's old and ancient news, but plenty of races considered chaotic are strict followers of law - their own, be it tribal, religious or something. So i always suggested to new players to think more about "structures/order" than about "law". To this day i can't accept term "lawfulness". :)
To be fair, TSR/Wizards couldn't even figure it out. morality has been both objective AND subjective, depending on edition, not to mention they're sometimes primal forces and sometimes not. Chaos is sometimes as organised as Law, which makes perfect sense. And I can't even remember the 4E rules...
