I'm sure things will change, but there'll always be room for the individual, and as for this whole 'prosecuting people for downloading or visiting sites', its pretty hard to prove someone downloaded something, unless you go around and actually find it on their computer.

Surely if I go to the library and download a metallica tune, and thus bring the whole might of the US legal system down upon me, wasn't it the library that downloaded it? What about if I chose to visit a non corporate or unpopular because of its views website, by driving around and leeching from someone else's wireless?

Yes there's bad things online, and something should be done, but just handing it over to corporations is like finding peeling paint on a wall in the orphanage and giving the keys to Michael Jackson just because he has the money to deal with it...

We just dont need a generation of moonwalking teenagers in the future. (avoided the obvious libel there)

I'm am so infuriated the concept of eliminating net neutrality exists. I watched that video, and I've read many articles about NN before but seriously; I don't like TV! I don't like have products labels thrown in my face for 10 minutes out of 30! On the internet I can go where I want and create a webpage whenever and of whatever I want! Instead I'll be told what to view with how much someone pays? Fuck that!

Ugh this makes me so MAD!

The internet is infinite, you can't tell me it needs to be regulated. From a generation that grew up with the internet I can tell you we are not yet THAT stupid.

One of the biggest problems is, and I'm 35, and I'm not knocking old people, but it's a huge jump in technology, and a lot of people really don't understand whats out there, or what the internet is, or its good or bad sides, so they'll believe what they're told.

What they're told seems to be 'it's all just porn and a way for paedos to get their hands on your child', instead of 'it's like the biggest library ever, with added wings for entertainment, discussion, art, music, etc, etc, oh yes, and about 7 more libraries nailed on the side just full of porn.'

But, go into a newsagent or video store and you can get that stuff, should we fit all children with neck braces until they're 18 so they cant look up?

I'm not saying 'the net is all wonderful and there's no bad stuff', but stomping all over it with a corporate banhammer, it's not going to be good, and will just lead to angsty teens writing on bathroom walls instead of myspace, and cleaning graffiti costs your tax dollars, folks!
