Never buy a Ubisoft game for PC

I have bought Anno 2070 back in november, and have only once had trouble with not being able to connect. However I could still play it, and halfway through my session it logged me back in to uplay. Sure it's not the best service around, but as far as I can tell they are already on the retreat from what they were doing with Assassins creed, where you had to had a permanent connection, and as soon as your internet dropped you were f*****.

But I would like to go further in defending Ubisoft. They have actually learnt what internet DRM can be good for, because by being connected to Uplay you actually get bonus stuff that you can't get when you're offline, so you actually get something in return this time for getting the real thing instead of going ARRRRRRR and using a torrent (AKA piracy).
My previous game from ubi was From Dust, and that was horrible on multiple levels. The mentioned DRM was much more irritating (they did remove the most restrictive part in the first patch, just days after launch...), and it was just a mediocre game in general. But Ubi is learning, and going "omg I bought a game, had a bad experiance and you should all never buy from them again" is not enough information to make me stop buying.

I bought Heroes of Might and Magic VI. It doesn't only need uplay to play online, but to log into the account system in the game itself, which also is unstable at times. So, I have two services that both need to be functional for me to have my savegames up and running for the single player campaign. I have now asked for a refund, although I loved the game, I will rather not that they get the money for it.

That was the exact reason I didn't buy Might and Magic Heroes VI (that's its actual name I have no idea why they did that). I'm also getting tired of Ubisoft blaming their games failing on everyone pirating them when a lot of people only do that because that's the only way to even get the game working.

If you're gonna do DRM, then at least don't make it intrusive, and make sure it works. Considering the success of Steam, it shows that players will put up with DRM if it's not an arse to work with.

When Steam doesn't work, I guess extremely pissed off also. But when it works, I'm as quiet as a babe. Maybe this applies to a number of other people too.

I am yet to buy an Ubisoft game since AC2 was announced to have awful DRM. I'd be open to buying their older DRM-free games if I had any left to buy, but Steam sales took care of that for me ages ago.

Have you thought about getting a console? Preferably a PS3 because Ubisoft favours them...

I downloaded a crack to get pass the DRM for Assassin's Creed II...And I bought the damn game. I honestly don't like the idea of only being able to play a game as long as their servers will allow it. Because mainly, there will be a time (5-7 years perhaps?), when then servers go down all together, and playing non recent Ubisoft games will not be possible. I say cut the DRM, because when things like this happen, only pirates are able to play Ubisoft games while paying customers have to sit and wait for the servers to go back up. It only encourages people to pirate their games rather than buy them.
