YES YES YES YES YES YES!

I dont remember who, but I had said I hoped Beamdog would do this, and someone doubted it, but HAH! Oh, I am so beyond happy about this!

I hope the online stuff comes back too, cause wow, that was the best thing ever. I see people rping in forums, or in MMOs, but it never was good enough for me, and while playing real DnD is a blast, you need well, other people around, but in NWN people would make places to RP whenever you want and you could count on everyone being part of it and not worry that xXx_Sep1r0thl0rd_xXx1992 would run by and ruin your immersion!

I really cannot wait!

I liked NWN when it was released but this doesn't look enhanced enough to make me want to replay it. Just like the Baldur's Gate enhanced editions.

???
The online stuff still exists.
I don't really see a lot of improvements on this Enhanced Edition to be worth that price tag.
Promised list of features and changes:

Improved Display: Your portrait, combat bar, inventory, and other UI elements adjust in size based on your chosen resolution including 1080p and 4k.
Advanced Graphics Options: Pixel shaders and post-processing effects make for crisper, cleaner visuals. Enable contrast, vibrance, and depth of field options as preferred.
Community Endorsed: Original developers have teamed with key members of the Neverwinter Nights community to curate important fan-requested improvements to support players, storytellers, and modders.
Backwards Compatibility: Works with save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. A galaxy of community created content awaits.
The only interesting part is the fan-requested improvements, but there's no details on what exactly those are yet, as far as I'm aware.

Now, if you want to get me excited, give me an enhanced edition for NWN2. It could really need it.

Huh...that's not particularly enhanced looking to me. Maybe it's just not having played it for ten years, but the game felt fine, it just needs a graphics overhaul, or maybe a complete graphics rebuild, I'm not really au fait with how that kind of stuff works.

Yeah, for me NWN was great, it's NWN2 that could do with improvement beyond looking fancier. I'd like to be able to finish it without having to restart five times due to bugs, for example.

That is interesting news. I'll buy it just because of the name....I was a part of the NWN community for years, thoroughly enjoyed the online part of the game. The 3.5ed update heralded, for me, the height of DnD which continued thru its sequel.

Saying that, the Diamond Edition already available for years works perfectly fine, even on Win10 x64. Enhanced visuals and working online stuff (since gamespy doesn't exist anymore), as well as just modernising the engine could be great. I was actually thinking of replaying this again....an old school DnD RPG from BioWare before they went "cinematic" and got EAd. NWN is better than most of their more recent games.

I mean that 3rd point would be the big thing (stuff like the portraits is kind of funny, cause most people used customs anyways which wouldn't be in those resolutions unless they redo them).

I could've sworn we had skyboxes by the end of official NWN too, but they aren't in this.

Psh, I just want it on Steam and to not have to go through a complicated method to play online.

Great! (though I won't pre-order even that; but still, great!) I used to play local LAN with friends and we all had a blast with it.

You can get it on GOG for a pittance these days.

OT, Beamdog didn't impress me with the Baldur's Gate remasters and from what I heard their remake of Planescape was abysmal. They don't even have the excuse now of the games not working- Neverwinter Nights 1 still works just fine on Win10.

I do have it on GoG, but its uh, lacking.

If nothing else, the good part is that this version will make it work better on modern computers. And again, having online back proper!

The GoG version I'd assume is the original, and this is what Saelune's babbling about, would still be using defunct Gamespy for its online. So you literally can't find an online game without being on a LAN or knowing the actual IP of the server. Which I'm assuming the EE is subbing something else in.

NWN was basically a split between people playing custom content modules, and people playing in little mini-MMO servers. While the first is still fine, the second kind of bit a bullet when the server browser stopped functioning, as fresh population wouldn't be able to find a server without googling around even if they bought the game.

(And literally no one cared about the terrible campaigns. The third one didn't even work properly in multiplayer unless you got community mods for it. I kind of wonder about the Premium Mods being included, that was where the last burst of late game features came from, but there's no sign of the skyboxes as I mentioned previously, which makes me wonder if there's licensing weirdness with them being community-created stuff)

I want to see them do an enhanced edition of Descent to Undermountain. If they can make that game playable, then I'd be really impressed.

That would be me. But this isn't actually a full remaster like what you were talking about. It almost looks like it's just the base game with a big code patch and a couple flashy graphics effects. MAYBE some new features but we'll see here.

In any case though, the working multiplayer alone is enough of a reason to buy it. That and full Steam integration.

This isn't entirely true. There are still a ton of small issues with it although nothing too annoying at all. I'm just waiting for it to finally break one of these days.

Barely. It's very much on its last legs.

I mostly just wanted a version that had online back and worked on my computer properly.

Ofcourse, once they run out of Bioware DnD games to do, what next?

I'd love if they basically made a Neverwinter Nights 3, but for 5th Edition.

I should go back and learn how to do all the fancy coding stuff, maybe look into making my own RP server! Maybe, maybe not. Either way, RPing on RP servers is the best ever! I seriously cannot wait!

Remaster wise, not sure who owns Temple of Elemental Evil (which would be the next one in theory, though they haven't done either Icewind Dale that was sandwiched in the middle yet). And god onlys knows who owns what remnants of the SSI titles if you go the other direction.

As new games go, WotC themselves I think have the actual D&D license themselves since that iteration of Atari that had it died. They've mostly shopped it off to free-t-play/mobile type devs though.

I dunno, DnD is on a major rise lately. I dont expect it, just hope for it.

People say that 5 is a little bit too simple. I honestly would just like a full-blown Pathfinder Neverwinter Nights. Barring that, Pathfinder rules in Divinity: Original Sin 2 would also work very nicely. Although Pathfinder can get pretty darn complicated, it's also the most extensive and allows for a ton of different character types. Spellcasters are still OP'd as hell as long as the enemy isn't touting a bunch of Spell Resistance but who cares. It's too much fun.

As to RP servers, are we thinking of the uh... You know. More risque RP servers? XD

Truly the great loss when Gamespy died was never being able to tell if Kinky Kingdoms was still holding strong in the top 5 servers by population.

5e is streamlined in the way 4e wanted without sacrificing depth and variety. And wanting a NWN pathfinder is like wanting an Avengers movie to have Superman in it.

Well when I say a Pathfinder NWN, I mainly mean like a Pathfinder cRPG with the same functionality as NWN.
