....Excuse me, I um...need to go visit the girl's room for just a moment...

ok, back! That was fucking cool. I really want to see how the story would play out with this one. I still kind of wish the background war was different, but if Ubisoft can pull of off I probably won't give a proper damn later. Will be too busy tomahawking random soldiers on both sides. Muhahahahahahahaha!

Thanks for putting it up man! <3

It does look good, and the new assassin robes look cool.

OT: If they do continue the series after Desmond, they need to do Ninja's Creed (or something to that effect)

So basically you play as Mel Gibson from the patriot.
No, you play as a NINJA Mel Gibson. See the difference?

OT: I seriously need to play the first two games because I hate going into games like this and not knowing what the hell is going on and why the Assassins and Templars are fighting. That said, I remember someone saying that Washington was a Templar, so does that mean that Connor(the new assassin) will try to kill him?

If you want to save your self ~100 hours of game time and a bunch of dosh, you could read up the plot on wikipedia or somewhere.

Although the games were pretty good and worth a playthrough, brotherhood certainly had an interesting end too.

Actually saw this on Reddit about an hour ago :p

Ayhoo, somehow I knew that Brotherhood and Revelations would be written off as spin-offs and that AC3 was in the works since the day AC2 hit the shelves, those two expansion packs masquerading as games didn't have me fooled for a nanosecond.
Now as for how the trailer looks... Taking a tomahawk to the necks of Templar Red Coats?...
I WANT THIS GAME YESTERDAY!

I hope the preorder extras are better than last time, I mean seriously, for those who don't play multiplayer, wtf is the use of an extra multiplayer character?!

Eh, I'm unimpressed. Yes, the fighting and engine are no doubt going to be good, but I pray they aren't going to go for the "AMERICA GOOD/ENGLAND BAD" cant. Shades of grey make for so much better a game.
except that during the revolutionary war the English millitary was bad, but i guess when your leader is a colossal prick then yeah i guess you can blame them too much.

That said i have nothing but respect for Briten now as they are both loyal and kind.

I'm biased anyway, because I loved the renaissance/medieval setting, but I have a few concerns about this new setting:

So far, the promo video suggests much goings-on in woods, but:
- The game really pioneered social stealth, yet this seems to be a move away from it.
- So far the use of colour in the series has been pretty good - Revelations was amazing for it, and I loved the various city shadings in AC1, but this seems set in winter, and therefore drab in comparison.
- The game seems to be set in the middle of a conflict, and seems to put the assassin squarely on the American side. This is a big change from the previous games, where they have usually been within a truce/period of politiking rather than a full-scale war (and lets not forget that bit of AC1 was the weakest). There's less room for assassins here.
- Historically, WAS THERE much assassination in the revolutionary war?

The way this trailer is set out concerns me. First, Connor murders the evil British redcoats. Then, he looks over a battle as a big, inspirational freedom speech is given, pro-America and all. Then the Americans charge with flags waving.

I hope the game proves me wrong, but it really looks like the game is going America-good/Britain-bad.

Huh. I'm interested.

Guess I should get around to playing Revelations before it comes out - AC games have always been a "catch up on later when the price drops" thing for me.

After watching that interview i have to say I am getting less and less worried and more and more excited about AC3 given that Brotherhood and Revelations were good but kind of disappointing too (particularly Revelations). The fact that they took over 2 years on this one really makes me think this will be something special like AC2 was (Which is still my favorite game in the franchise and one of my favorite games period)

cannot wait till E3 where we should see actual game play stuff

I bloody love it, I finaly get a game that takes place in my neck of the woods and better yet you get to play as a native american who is probably a mohawk or another Iriqouis tribe, which is even better for me since I have some mohawk blood in me.

I'm inclined to agree. Given the series' theme of freedom/self-determination vs. totalitarianism/control from above, it makes some sense to have the birth of democracy pitted against imperial control. On the other hand, making America "the good guys," would be a cartoonish over-simplification a la Mel Gibson in the Patriot. Wasn't the fledgling colony still heavily dependant on slavery at a point when Britain was on the verge of outlawing it? Wasn't there a pretty pronounced Free Mason presence among the early American leadership? Not hard to see how that could tie into the whole Templar thing. Lastly, it would be an incredible waste not to have this branch into the roughly contemporary (and HUGELY relevant) French Revolution setting. I recently read about how the execution of Louis XVI was immediately followed by some random guy leaping up to the scaffold and shouting that the Templars had finally been vindicated. How could that not factor in the story?

In short, there's so much to be explored here that a simple America vs. Britain scheme would be disappointing to say the least.

Well I guess this means I better hurry up and play Revelations so I'll know what is going on. I should probly replay the other games as well (maybe not #1 though) to remind myself what's been going on, as it's been awhile.

The tomahawk will be an interesting addition to the arsenal. As will the bow he's running around with. I liked the crossbow's in the previous games, so I hope its use will be similar.

i'm sad they chose as usual an U.S. History related subject instead of one of so many other more epic timelines.

Rammstein was right...

Maybe after the Assassin's Creed games wandering around Europe and the Middle East, they thought, "You know, the American kids who don't know much about world history might have trouble appreciating all what's going on here. Let's bring it back to somewhere they do understand reasonably well... America!"

And I know I'm probably just ruining it by saying this, but when you hear the big inspirational speech with the line, "The time is now near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men, or slaves", I couldn't help thinking to myself "Slaves eh? Interesting choice of words, but I wonder whether they would do much to inspire the millions of actual slaves living in America who wouldn't gain their freedom until a century later."

Still, the free-running in tree branches was pretty cool.
