New Assassin's Creed Concept

I had a brainwave about Assassin's Creed.
Make it an MMO-style game where you pick up quests/jobs from a main hub (Such as in Fable) and go out to assassinate certain people for reward. You compete with other player for the kill and have a leaderboard of the best assassins on that server (Based on high-ranking kills, most kills without capture etc.). This would iron out the delays between the actual kills and bring an element of competitiveness that isn't based on PvP (as to avoid PKs etc.). This is just a suggestion and I would like some positive feedback about it.

Cheers everyone =)

So...instead of running on roof tops killing people we'll do it for a monthly fee with a level system and 12 year olds telling us "We iz n00b"?

Sounds good, except for this one part: The concept.

Not to be mean, but it doesn't sound that good. It'd turn Halo-esque really quickly and to be honest, Assassin's creed didn't impress me that much in the first place.

As I haven't played the game yet, I don't know how well the formula would translate into a MMO, but from what I've seen and heard of the game, I'd say that this wouldn't work out very well.

Assassin's Creed looks like some bastardized offspring from Shadow of the Colossus and Prince of Persia, with flaws but eventually something good coming out of it.
I don't think the game needs to be made into anything else. If anything, it just needs to be made better, going from the amount of criticism it gets.

Personally, I don't think this would work out well enough. Everybody of the leaderboard would have the same amount of points because the assassinations are so easy, you never get caught. And the guards are so predictable, you could kill infinite amounts since they spawn constantly and everywhere you go they are there. I mean if the score system was on time it took and distance traveled(like if you ran away alot, you would have to travel more)then yea it could work but the way you explained it would lead to a scoreboard of the same numbers.

I love the idea that you could spawn an assassation target and then have an army of assassins descend upon the city, all trying to get the one target before anyone else.

Add a PVP component - one life per assassination target - and you have the reciepe for absolute madness, double crosses, triple crosses. If you made the assassination really difficult as well, so you have to work together to get the target...I think that would be a lot of fun!

Everyone would be so busy killing each other and leaping across the rooftops that the actual target would most likely escape. Never going to happen, but a fun thought if nothing else.

no.

mmorpg's ruin most games, and assasins creed wasnt that good in the first place.

WoW is the biggest example of ruining other games, the Warcraft series just got a lot less atractive because of it.

*laughs*

"Ok guys! Let's go kill him!"

*hundreds of assasins descend on the city to kill Mr. Bad Knight, one hour later, the city is a ghost town littered with dead bodies and all the assasins are perched on top of towers and church steeples like vultures*

Priceless!

He's got a point. If we make it an MMO, we will have to face the infestation of Arseholus Noobus, the Common Noob. Also, we lose alot of the graphics, one of the things that made Assassin's Creed so special. I'd rather they release an ironed-out Assassin's Creed 2, getting rid of all the flaws like the retarded A.I. (Hmm, there's a stabbed body on the ground and no-one else here. Except for that guy in the robe dripping with knives, but he's praying, so it couldn't be him).

Eh you can't knock a game idea until you've tried it. This idea doesn't sound completely insane and/or idiotic - someone should prototype it and see how it plays. Good luck.

i dunno i think it would work. though youd most likely have to tweak the game a lot. if you made it run more like diablo. you can have groups of 8 people working together in one game. so each mission wouldnt be a big deal. and once the mission is complete everyone gets the quest but you could still go back and do it again and again for special skills or items or points. i havent played the game yet but by what i know of the game play i think you could create a game based around this concept. i think it would bring in a lot of people. and when it comes to people being rude on the servers you have to remember you get that when you play any game online, not just the big role playing games. people will always be saying noob and cheating. you just cant escape it. ban and ban and ban but the people who wreck games time and time again will always find a way through the cracks. almost like roaches. you never kill them all. its almost just a part of gaming experiences now a days. the jerks who think they own us all.

possibly, but you'd be missing out on the one thing that asssassin's creed did well, which was the story.

When I saw Assassin's Creed, I immediately thought that this is just what Thief 4 should look like. The high production value, the massive living cities, and the mechanics used would be a giant leap for that franchise.

Use an Elder Scrolls style of play where there are plenty of freelance quests and jobs to go with a primary storyline.

Swap out Altair for Garrett and you're in business!

I didn't think of that, I thought that the assassins would all try and kill each other before the target, but knocking off the civvies before hand would make it even easier!

I just had the mental image of one assassin lining up a shot on Mr Bad Knight, and then as he is about to fire gets taken out by a second assassin, who fires from a rooftop far away, who then is killed by a third assassin who has snuck behind this one, who is then killed by a fourth assassin who parkours up to the third assassin and kicks him off a roof, who is then taken out...

Meanwhile, Mr Bad Knight below watches bemused as multiple assassin bodies rain down all around him, while he continues on his merry way, completely untouched.
