I wouldn't say Blops is over-hyped. It's mostly been cynicism.
If there's subscription, People will just keep playing Blops. No biggie.

While it still is the Madden of FPS, I feel I must point out that my sources are suggesting that Black Ops will allow for split screen online.MellowFellow said:I haven't really played a COD game since CODWaW, so I probably won't get this. The main reason I don't really play COD games anymore is because you can't play them splitscreen online.
Also COD is the new Madden.
Screw it, you just nailed it right there. They will eat it up. They'll suck it up the nose like little crack addicts dying for the next fix. And the rest of us will hang our heads and sigh because we can't get a fucking break for something original, or at the very least, sans cheesy music and BS plots.Scrumpmonkey said:Why wouldn't they? It's guitar-hero all over again. I fully expect to see TWO CoD games in 2011, maybe even more depending on the platforms. Im not one of those indie game freaks who just think everything popular is terrible BUT i would like to stake myself firmly in the "Everything activision produced is souless, unimaginative and toxic to the games industry crap" camp. I never thought i could dispise a series so much but right now the big Activision activision franchises are the very definition of what is currently wrong wtih gaming.
And all you fuckers just keep eating up don't you. I expect at least one will be subscription based for something that really shouldn't be. The combination of £12 map-packs, hyper-sales of bland generic shit and the continuing stagnation makes me really repulsed my an entire section of the games markert, being let by the nose by mr. kotick.
Hyped doesn't mean good it means that everybody and they're mother is super excited about the release of an upcoming thing, so we know that is very very hyped.Amishdemon said:The games swap developers every year so activsion can publish a cod game every year and have them still be pretty good games because they get 2 years of development. Also we don't know how hyped black ops is until release day when we find out if it really is the second coming.
well in black ops you can infact bring another person online with youMellowFellow said:I haven't really played a COD game since CODWaW, so I probably won't get this. The main reason I don't really play COD games anymore is because you can't play them splitscreen online.

I was thinking more along the lines of General Shepherd still being alive, but wearing an eyepatch.Sleekgiant said:And in this epsiode, Soap and Price save the world from a nuclear holocaust.......while wearing clown suits!!!!
Seconded, I bet Black Ops servers will be crammed at time of release, no one with sound mind will pay for something they've been doing for 7 years without a price.Vanguard_Ex said:I am not paying a fucking subscription fee for CoD multiplayer. Just no.
Maybe it will even include an alternate ending when the galaxy is destroyed and the bad aliens are at peace! God, I'm getting so hyped just thinking about it!Lacsapix said:slow down activision... if a cod game will be released every month I will stop carring.

Don't forget the zombies, I hear this one will have an actual structured campaign for the mode this time!TerribleAssassin said:Seconded, I bet Black Ops servers will be crammed at time of release, no one with sound mind will pay for something they've been doing for 7 years without a price.Vanguard_Ex said:I am not paying a fucking subscription fee for CoD multiplayer. And I might buy it for the singleplayer, if it's not awful, confusing and just plain crap as with MewTwo's campaign.
Oh yeah, and that! And so did CoD 5's, you just had to pay for useless online maps to get to the actual zombie campaign and fun.Vanguard_Ex said:Don't forget the zombies, I hear this one will have an actual structured campaign for the mode this time!TerribleAssassin said:Seconded, I bet Black Ops servers will be crammed at time of release, no one with sound mind will pay for something they've been doing for 7 years without a price.Vanguard_Ex said:I am not paying a fucking subscription fee for CoD multiplayer.
