Is it just me or am I the only person on Earth that dislikes Dead Rising. I personally don't like the childish experience that the game has to offer, I prefer my zombie games to be gory gritty and scary, not full of colors, Lego's and an infinite amount of chainsaws. Left 4 Dead fir my criteria, but it seemed like Dynasty Warriors with guns... and zombies... I was able to clear a hallway in a matter of SECONDS with a hand gun, which just doesn't seem right to me. Next zombie game put out I want to see this from it...

Slow shuffling zombies, with the occasional runner, none of which that don't die as easily, think resident evil 1 (remake for the GameCube)
Lots of melee, scarce ammo, maybe not scarce, but not abundant.
Big city to explore, possible like a questing sort of thing.
Lots of NPC's, and there strongholds will deteriorate over time if you don't help them.
Intensely violent lots of cursing? and screaming!
To top it off, a class sort of thing, pick a job prior to the outbreak, stats, size, all that stuff. Also nothing stupid like slow motion or WALKING ON THE HEAD'S OF THE FUCKING UNDEAD. The ability to walk on the head's of the undead confused and annoyed me. Sorry Capcom I do not accept that.

Just a realistic zombie game (lol REALISTIC zombie game). What I always think of is something like this; you and an NPC (or friend... if it was coop) are stalking down a pitch black hallway, poorly armed, and have a shitty flashlight. Then all of a sudden... a fast zombie like barrels through the window and then like a handful of shufflers (slow zombies) come around the corner... so you have a handful of ammunition, a crowbar, and a huge problem on your hands.

Oh Well
Fine, go play L4D and let us less serious people have our fun. Thats what is great about gaming, the variety. Not everything has to be the same. Now, if a game is gonna be about serious zombie stuff, stay serious, if nto, then dont. Dead Rising is meant to be fun, and is meant to let you waste lotsa zombies any way you can imagine. Dead Rising is way more fun and replayable to me than L4D, not that I dont like it, its fun when I want to be more serious and I say this loosely, 'realistic' but then I also like covering zombie's heads with funny masks and watchign em stumble around.

none of that stuff is possible...
BUT IT STILL LOOKS AWESOME!!!

and it's on the PC!!!
Meh, I still wouldn't want to be a PC gamer. I don't see how the control's would work with the game mechanics. The trailer looks good, but it doesn't look like they are doing much different from the first one.

I think you're missing the point of Dead Rising.

It's poking fun at the "camp" often found in zombie movies, yet amplifying it to the point of hilarity. That's the point of these games. It's a sandbox game set on a linear path with an insane amount of toys at your disposal. So many other games have gone the route that you're looking for in a zombie game. They might not have gone to the extreme that you ultimately want, but the reason Dead Rising was so universally loved was because it went a different route and turned the typical formula into zombie-romping kill-fest of epic proportions. It was self-aware and didn't try to be anything but that.

While I agree that a semi-zombie MMO would be intriguing, that take on the genre is not what I want for Dead Rising. I want to put a Lego helmet on a zombie and bash it with a squeaky sword or grab a shopping cart and mow down everything in my way. I'd rather be creative with the way that I kill hordes of the undead than try and conserve the 9 bullets I have left for my Glock by running away from the fight.

But to each their own, I guess.

Really don't think its a nod to gears. It's just 2 chainsaws tied to a stick. In other words, a gazillion times more awesome than anything gears could ever hope to be.

Yay! I loved Dead Rising. The amount of "weapons" you could use to kill zombies is just amazing. Sure the story wasn't actually "top notch" and I couldn't even give a crap about all the characters but all this is solved when you can kill zombies with a damn bucket.

Yeah Frank was cool, I only played the first game a little bit, but I liked him, it'll also be a shame to have the photography element taken out.

Um.....there's an enemy in Gears of War 2 who wields a staff with chain-saw blades affixed to either end, so yeah it's exactly like Gears.

[fanboy]oh that was cool that bit with the chainsaw`s and he was all like cutting and slicing and there was blood everywhere it was so awesome[/fanboy] but I only ask one question and a stupid one at that that will most likely be answered with a yes "do you really need to put chainsaw`s on everything"?

To be honest, I didn't like it. I'm all for zombie killing, but this just looked stupid to me. I played the demo for the first Dead Rising and didn't like it either. Maybe something is wrong with me...

Yeah, thats a staff with blades. Every-fucking-thing in gears has chainsaws. In dead rising, it is mearly a broom handle with full chainsaws (not just the blade) taped onto the end. This is more of a nod at Darth Maul than gears.

I still think it is, you're free to think otherwise.

I just wonder why they can't come up with good names

"frank west" "chuck greene"

it's awful
Agreed, Chuck Greene is brutally terrible. It's so bad that and so plainly obvious they're trying to make him a jon everyman, that they might as well have called him John Everyman. Especially after Frank West? They should have at least gave him a name that wasn't a colour or compass direction or profession (no smith or cooper).

Bottom line, agreed. What a terrible name for a character to follow up "Frank West", already a terribly plain and ordinary name.

I'm really hyped up for this game.

I only tried the first, but this one looks like it could be a blast.
