I've almost finished all my schoolwork for the semester, works been slow to non-existant and I got to thinking what should I do with my time? Video games came up naturally, but then i thought, remember when i didn't play video games? What was it that I did then? I didn't have a game console for several years until about a year and a half ago, when i bought a pre-owned ps2. Did my life start that day...*sarcasm*
So here's a question for y'all. With new technology that's been coming out, does it replace any of the more old fashioned pursuits you used to have? Guitar hero replaces actual guitar playing, chatting online instead of going to your friends house, stuff like that?
And yes, i realise people still do that stuff...

Er, i guess chatting online has kind of replaced talking to people in real life. But then again I live in a really rural area so it's difficult to meet up with people in person. I would never give up playing my drum kit to play the drums on a game, and I wouldn't ever not go to see a band live because i can view their performance on youtube.

I still draw, play guitar and read, so no it doesn't have much of an effect.

Although, I don't telephone people now, because online communication is so much easier, cheaper, and I can easily hold multiple conversations.

I also still play my N64, so modern gaming consoles haven't replaced older ones either.

Of course no. Good entertainment does not lose its value even when there is something interesting at hand. I still read good books and see my friends but I also have bunch of new stuff like playeng MtG or paper-and-pen-RP to spend my time on.

Before I played vidceo games...I was in the womb. Well, ok, probably my first year or two I did not either, but babies dont actually do anything. I was hooked very early.
Only things I seemingly lost interest in was LEGOs and Marvel toys. (Mostly X-Men)
But just a week ago I was playing with my LEGOs so...

Not really. I still talk to people more in person. I don't really like these people, and the ones I talk to online are much better friends, but the communication is still there.

I also still play many old games, and still play sports.
