Rebirth was brilliant.

The second episode? Leela bones Zapp... with zero hesitation... in front of Fry...

It only took two episodes for them to hit the low point of the entire fucking series. Grats.
Someone sounds a little jealous.
Yes. Fry is. Hence the third portion of the second sentence.

Quoting me to imply something that is ruled out in the quote itself is "special".

I'm definitely still watching, but as someone who puts that particular joke in my own Futurama top ten, I'm amazed that you're not having the same reaction to these new episodes. The show isn't nearly as intelligent as it was. Maybe it never will be.
My reaction is one of Futurama is back, as that is I am willing to hold fire on an opinion until we get about four or five shows in. That to be honest is how long it took the first series to start hitting its stride. Okay you can say that the guys have had five series and four FL episodes to fall back on but we also have to remember that those five series as ended up with the show being cancelled. The show was going to change and I think it will take at least a seasons for them to find out what angle to take the new episodes.

If the show does feel the need to make constant reference to pop culture and making pointless jokes to non story specific events then yeah that will get tiring, after all we already have a show that does that and that's called Family Guy. The opportunity is there and I can sense that the basics are there, despite what some say the second episode, bar maybe the ending felt like old Futurama and the start of the third felt old school Futurama until it speared off on the Iphone hammering.

I hated the eyePhone episode. The writing was way below Futurama's standard. Parodying Apple is something they already did in the Simpsons, and it wasn't particularly funny then either.

And Susan boil? Really?

I haven't seen it yet, BUT I know it's going to be brilliant and nothing will change my mind on that. I know I'm being childish but your talking to a man who took the time to decode the alien language.

In Ep. 2 they made a CSI Miami joke. That is unforgivable.
I thought that was actually the worst part of the chapter... Totally uncalled for coming from Zapp.
But I thing its unfair to say something sucks now based on just two chapter. After all, every season has its highs and lows, Futurama included.

I've only seen the first two of the new episodes, and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. However, I'm really not ready to dismiss them just yet; Futurama's been gone a while...hopefully, all they need is some time to re-adjust...

I'm a little confused by Fry and Leela being "just friends" as it currently seems to be. I didn't think the first three episodes were hilarious (especially not the third), but they had enough good bits to keep me interested. I'm willing to stick it out to see if they can get back on their feet.

Well it's not as great as the original. But, firstly I think we all knew that it was unlikely it would be due the circumstances of it's return. And secondly, we're only 3 (about to be 4) episodes in, Comedy Central has 20 more or so of these ordered. I think only after the series is done forever can we judge the worth of these new seasons. This isn't like the new season of Scrubs where we knew it was garbage, I think these episodes have a fighting chance

If the second episode was on the precipice of Family Guy, the third and fourth episodes have leaped clean off the cliff. It's nothing but pop culture references, cliched/contrived drama, and throwaway one-liners. Still worth watching, but a far, far cry from the old show.

It's ok But leelas character is nicer and doesn't have the same tough yet inner sensitivity that she should have. And bender and Amy? How the he'll did they come up with that?

They're pretty ok, I mean the early ones are a lot more awesome in general, but it's still good fun :)

Degradation of humor from math, physics, and programming jokes to stipid penis jokes, and nudity in every episode.Way to go, yeah.

Yeah. It's rough. I think the season has rebounded somewhat from episodes 2-4 (which were awful), with the Amy-centric episode being the only recent misstep. Pretty big misstep though; the entire episode centers around her scientific brilliance, which runs about as contrary to her established character as humanly possible.

I think the new series blows pretty hard too. It's had 2 amazing episodes (Lethal Inspection/The Late Philip J Fry) and all the rest have been mediocre/awful. The iPhone episode is the absolute low point for me. Susan Boyle reference? Really?
