Interactive cutscenes anyone ? Resident evil 4 started it and I can;t count the amount of games that copied it.
But has anyone done it as good as RE4?
I.e. in RE4, you can skip the cutscene foward to just before the QTE takes place, whereas some games that copied it dont have the option of fast fowarding

What exactly are you talking about? Care to give some examples? I think the reason most of the companies that try new and ambitious things go under is because they produce bad games. They may be unique, but they aren't very good. Other times they may be very good, but they don't appeal to a large enough audience to generate substantial profit. In both of these cases it is not the other companies fault.
Clover, most of them may be back as Platnium now but they really sould still be clover

Well First thing i have problem's with The true creators of portal selling out and stuff But i'll let them live. And game's like sky's of arcadia had some great idea's and the growlanser series who are slowly dieing out. There's really to many to look into the topic.
I think what hurt Skies of Arcadia was only being released on the Dreamcast and Gamecube

You'll probably notice that most of the companies that make these unoriginal copy games are small. They don't have the fame or power of big companies like Bethesda. This has an obvious effect on their game development; they don't have nearly as much money to spend on developing a game. They need to stick with something they know will generate some profit, otherwise they risk sinking their entire company.
Are you on heavy drugs or something?
Those companies ARE what's wrong with the industry and almost never show ANY creativity...
Bethesda is basically redoing the same game over and over again every few years: Daggerfall --> Morrowind --> Oblivion --> Fallout 3 with only Minor changes to their Concept and Story/Setting.
Infinity Wards lives off of "Call of Duty", they didn't make a single game that wasn't called "Call of Duty".

The industry is lacking big developers that are willing to do something new like "Bullfrog", "Psygnosis" or "Maxis" in its early days almost entirely...

All games that are somewhat different and fun nowadays either come from very Small Developers or Indie Game Devs e.g.: World of Goo, Braid, Plants vs. Zombies, Portal (only came to be cause that University Project "Narbacular Drop" was made and they practically just Remade it for Valve)
Only SOE (Sony Computer Entertainment) has proven that it is WILLING to try something different with games like Little Big Planet, Loco Roco or Echochrome
What's your point? You still haven't explained why uncreative developers are killing the industry.

And I disagree with you saying that Bethesda didn't do anything new in Fallout 3. They gave new life to an old series that was pretty much dead to many gamers. Saying that Fallout 3 only had minor changes in story and setting when compared to their other games is absurd. I don't recall Bethesda using any set pieces in Oblivion, yet they feature prominently in Fallout 3.

But I don't want to get into an argument about Bethesda's games. My original point was that these developers are not harming the industry. The fact that the indie market exists and is very much alive is proof of that.

Sorry, I don't know what that is. Care to explain?
