Honestly the new trailer at least looks better than the last one. I didn't really care about the movie one way or the other though.

I'll probably watch it when it pops up on Netflix. I anticipate it being "okay with a couple really good bits and several terrible ones". Much like what i thought of Robocop and TMNT.

No... the movie has been pitched, by the studios and the marketing, as all female cast. Did you not read the articles? The first paragraph of the second article has Paul Fieg himself (the guy at the helm of the movie) quoting that the entire idea behind the movie is an all female cast. The same guy who a week or two ago changed his mind and said that the all female cast wasn't intentional and was purely coincidental.
So your entire complaint is this quote:

*snip*
Paul Feig says PR speech hyping his upcoming movie to Rolling Stone
*snip*
That's it? All the rage, all the complaints, over that?

I mean if there's one way to show all the rage isn't over it being an all-female cast, it's raging over the director thinking it'd be fun if they were all-female.
That's it? That's all it takes to dismiss a discrepancy for someone who was so adamant about not turning a blind eye to them just 3 posts ago? The phrase "That's it"? I could say that about your little downvote theory, as that is literally all you have. Even acknowledging that as a discrepancy, I am aware it isn't enough to pin the label "sexist" on such a wide market.

Read my paraphrasing of this paragraph. Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

Paying respects to the originals because if he shit on them it would tank his movie to ALL audiences:

"I had been contacted by Sony and Ivan a number of months ago when I was in Budapest shooting my new movie Spy. But I was like, I don't know if I want to take that on because the first two are such classics and just because of how do you do it? Who do you bring in now that Harold's gone? I know that Bill didn't want to do it and I love Dan, but it was just like I don't know how to do it. Then I had lunch with [Sony Pictures co-chairman] Amy Pascal when I got back to town. She was just saying, gosh, nobody wants to do this. I said, yeah, it's really hard to take that on, especially since it's 25 years later. how do you come back into a world that's had these ghosts and all this? It just felt too difficult. How do you do it and not screw it up? But then it was bugging me for the next few days because Ghostbusters is such a great thing and everybody knows it, and it's such a great world. It's a shame to just let this thing sit there. I want to see another one.

The edited version of his sales pitch:

My favorite thing to do is work with funny women. I was like, what if it was an all female cast? If they were all women? Suddenly, my mind kind of exploded: that would be really fun. I know, I will make them women! How can I do that? And then I thought, well, what if we just make it new? Fuck the source material and its fans. They can buy into MY new brand of Ghostbusters. It's not coming into the world that existed before. It?s always hard if the world has gone through this big ghost attack, how do you do it again? it takes talent to write stuff like that I wanted to come into our world where there's talk of ghosts but they're not really credible, (I'll just repeat what fans have already seen because my head is just exploding with great ideas!) and so what would happen in our world if this happened today?"
Sounds like such a great idea for a movie huh? The plot of Ghostbusters 1 but with women! That isn't "mind blowing" it is shallow.

I was like, what if it was an all female cast? If they were all women? Suddenly, my mind kind of exploded: that would be really fun.
Suddenly the movie had possibilities and potential.

This makes about as much sense as saying female Ghostbusters aren't equivalent to (fe)male Ghostbusters.
Seriously, dumbest pitch ever. Let's make them *opposite gender*! The possibilities!

Columbia Pictures doesn't do their own press. They instead they do press releases where "some websites, who aren't related to the marketing or studio" release information Columbia makes available. What you are asking for doesn't exist. Your method of dismissal allows them zero accountability for press releases. You are looking the other way on a discrepancy.
So like, Columbia Pictures weren't supposed to release who is starring in it as the main characters? Because those characters were women?
Do you have a point to your posts or is it simply "Nuh-uh". You acted like press releases didn't matter because Columbia Pictures themselves didn't announce it. I explain that ignores the point and that it is also requesting an impossible source since Columbia Pictures doesn't do that. Now, at least you acknowledge the credibility of my original source but move the goalpost. In case you missed it, my point was that Columbia released "all female cast" BEFORE they released ANYTHING in regards to the actual 'ghostbusting' stuff. We didn't even know if it would be a sequel, a reboot, as remake, nada. The only thing that was important to announce was "women". Like that alone was supposed to mean something. Politics for the sake of politics.

No fan service.

The movie comes out with a completely different tone. People hate it. They are calling cameos by the original cast not even in their previous roles fan service. That isn't fan service, its "here is Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray, now shut up". Politics are ruling the creative team. It's free reign to claim sexism for any negative response with the politics already in place in pop culture. It's a freebie. The backlash surely isn't because people are tired of heartless cash grab reboots and remakes pulling off of 80s properties. Nope, sexism, because politics. Because you are calling it "like it is" because Hollywood would never exploit controversy to sell tickets. Hollyood is a moral industry and it seems everyone involved are huge fans of Ghostbusters. I mean they couldn't print it if it wasn't true right? Clearly everyone that hates it is sexist. Keep shouting at them that they are sexist, I am sure they will realize it and agree and change their behavior. They wouldn't use sexism ironically to mock the other side instead. It surely wouldn't instigate negative backlash towards the movie at any rate, right?

I know that is a bit passive aggressive but only to make a point - that is - the image your side likes to try and paint. The saints of Hollywood trying to bless us with a quality female lead movie and we unappreciative masses won't accept it. It is impossible the for public opinion to dislike a female lead movie outside of sexism. This movie looks like a generic cash grab that isn't interested in its fans.

I can't tell whether or not this trailer is better or worse than the last one, but it still doesn't look funny. Just very, very cringe worthy. The token black character is far too stereotypical for my tastes. Every time she speaks it sends chills down my spine. This is just not my type of humor. The gender politics surrounding this film is going to make it difficult to trust any reviews, positive or negative, when the film finally comes out. That, coupled with the cringey humor, means I most definitely will not be seeing this film in theaters. And considering the hate this movie is getting already, I doubt it'll do well at the Box Office. Shall we start writing the eulogy now, or does the film still have a chance?

Better, but the jokes still fell so flat for me. And the CGI...sheesh, a little too neon. That's all I think about it, really. Ghostbusters always was Bill Murray's rodeo anyway. It'd be a real boring movie if they didn't allow Murray to ad-lib as much as he did.

Oh, right, there's girls in it and stuff? Okay.

I think this trailer is better than the first one, but the humor on display does nothing for me. Leslie Jones deserves better material than what she's been given in these trailers. The whole Dragon ghost on the shoulders and "woman thing or racial thing" falls flat for me.

I think the black lady's line says everything about this film "I don't know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I'm mad as hell." It's an SJW movie thru-and-thru. It exists for girl-power, stick it to the man/patriarchy or whatever other feminist/SJW claptrap. It's both a reboot and a political statement, like the Baldur's Gate expansion. I might not even care about the reboot part, it's not like they haven't rebooted EVERYTHING else until now. But I have no interest in watching so-called "progressive" nonsense for two hours, at least not if I have to pay actual money to do so.

I also hated the reboots of Spiderman, Total Recall, Robocop, Star Wars and the Fantastic Four to name but a few.

Watched the trailer, it wasn't as bad as the first one. Lemme see it one mo' time.

Okay, yeah, not as bad. Still not super great, but not bad. Why? Because it's showcasing a little more of the subtle, even nonchalant humor that was done so well in the original Ghostbusters. And yes, there's still some over-the-top silliness, and yes, it unfortunately comes from Patty Tolan which does not help her character too much. Oh friggin' well.

Oh, and one more thing: We're judging mere trailers against an entire movie that's had decades to become ingrained in American cinematic culture. A movie which didn't have the most impressive trailer, IMHO. I've already formed an opinion, it was unavoidable, but I will at least keep an open mind until the reviews start coming in.

Bottom line: Before, I was going to wait to download it. Now, I think I might see it on $5 Tuesday, if the opinions aren't abysmal. So that's something.
