Define "bland" and "uninspired", because whenever I hear people bitching about something being "bland", it usually translates into "It's popular and I can't increase my hipster cred by listening to this". I'm not going to argue that the self-titled was the pinnacle of creativity (personally, I don't care for it too much), but Demon Days was anything BUT run-of-the-mill.
If you didn't like their first two albums, you should still give PB a shot for one reason:
It sounds nothing like DD or s/t. The mood of the album is a complete 180 degree turn and it's doing a damn good job at dividing the fanbase, kind of like Radiohead's Kid A did.
