this game seems to look good but what's throwing me off is the wand,

I mean that red spell fires like a machine gun, it just looks weird to see it come from a stick

looks interesting, I don't know how well it will do but it's a new take on the harry Potter games Franchise and I definitely approve of that choice.

I dunno, it looks like it could be pretty generic gameplay-wise. Unless they were to retain some of the puzzle elements of the eariler games?

The worst part of this, however? The internet is going to be infested with terrible Harry Potter/Gears of War puns now.

Exactly my reaction. In fact as I was watching and I saw the spiders, the dragon and the 'kiss his soul away' scene (complete with that cringe-worthy mumble of Expecto Patronum) I thought "Oh, I get it now, this is a New Harry Potter in the sense that it's a game for the entire series. That's ambitious." but alas, it was just wrong.

The game looks ok and I have nothing against it being a third-persoon shooter, but if the book wasn't action-heavy enough (which it wasn't), they could have just made one game out of it instead of two games filled with whatever HP-ish stuff they could come up with.

It will either be awesome because it looks like Harry Potter on steroids or it'll be terrible cos they take too many liberties with the plot and make it unrecognisable.
Personally I'm rooting for Harry Potter on steroids.

Ohhh my god I laughed my ass off. Is this serious becuase no. I remember the only Harry Potta game I played had me running around making silly little designs to cast a silly little spell. I also had the exciting adventure of going to class and platforming through forest casting those silly little spells at spiders or some other random critter.

Again that was hilarious. Thank you for bringing joy into my otherwise dull morning.

Hmm, I dunno. Multiplayer could be interesting if you can use loads of different spells. Would add a whole new tactic to online shooters, I mean, if you can counter certain spells, use shields, cast flare ( =D ) etc.

I'm gunna wait for a demo before I pass judgement.

Online multiplayer is the only logical progression.

Of course Expelliarmus is totally cheap, and Avada Kedavra is a complete noob-cannon. The hardcore players just use Lumos. That takes skill.

... I know too many words from Harry Potter, I need to go hit my head against something to drive it all out.

Yes. Yes you are. This looks unbelievably generic and simplistic. It might be decent if there's some variety, but all of the attacks in the trailer that I saw were a red machine-gun type thing, a blue single-shot type thing, and a shield. It looks like a shoddy reskinning of a third person shooter.
