Huh. Damn, I thought I was being original. I don't actually go to the bungie forums, so I can honestly say it wasn't plagiarism. Sprinter seemed like a good simple name that would fit with the other names (Hunter, Smoker, Witch, they're all simple two syllable or less titles). As for the idea, I think that proves that pretty much everyone is wishing for a hit/run character to be added to the roster, since that's really the only thing it's missing.
i just figured that maybe you read that thread and kinda transformed the sprinter to be more balanced

also i would like a hit and run zombie. i mean the closet thing we got to that is the boomer
which is really sad when you think about it. the boomer is slow and lumbering, and can't really escape once it commits. I think of the boomer as the kamikaze of the infected: once it goes into the fray it's only job is to get as close as possible to the humans before dying.
Hunter is the hit and Run Zombie.

which is why i stick to the rooftops. i wait for a smoker to grab a survivor then when they come to free him i vomit and it covers like 2-3 survivors. if i dont have a rooftop i usally just wait at a doorway they have to go throught (ex: the door to the first crecendo event on no mercy)

yeah, the boomer is best as either a kamikaze or a camper.

I wish there was a way to disengage and retreat from a downed survivor instead of waiting to die.

Dunno if this has been suggested, but since the game has friendly fire and your never allowed to turn it off, what about an infected that takes control of one of the survivors? Be pretty surprising if out of the blue you just get a shotgun blast to the back of the head. Then again, I can imagine it being exploited pretty badly, making survivors jump off buildings or set off car alarms. To make it fair it would have to take a minute for it to take effect and last only maybe 10 seconds.

A dog is too much like a Hunter. That and I like dogs.

A dog is too much like a Hunter. That and I like dogs.
The problem with flying zombies and zombie dogs is that up till this point every zombie has been human, and it'd be weird to have a controllable zombie that wasn't originally sentient (since zombieism(?) pretty much always lowers brain function).

As long as a zombie Rod Hull was attached, that would be awesome. Creepy as all hell, but awesome!

I'd just evolve on the hunter & make it able to crawl on wall & ceilings from which it can pounce on the survivors. kinda like the Aliens from Alien Vs. Predator 2.

Something like a heavy that tackles players to the ground.
If it's killed with guns, it stays on top of the player, incapacitating them. the only way to free them is to melee the infected a few times.

They already had an idea for a special infected like that, called the screamer. It was going to be like the witch, non-playable. Anyways, they replaced it w/ the smoker's smoke ability to cut off team chat.
Screamer infected: if it spots a player it alerts the horde and keeps doing so till it is killed.

I was reading the Left4Dead forums at their site and saw an excellent idea: The Butcher. One of the players would become this infected and be given a first person view, but have no control over him. His aim is purely to run around like a madman, in a random path, slashing at anything which he encounters; zombies, infected, survivors alike. I think it would be amusuing to be one and add a little more fear to those who encounter him. He'd be hard (not as much as the tank) but fast and furious and would cause the survivor group to split in unique ways.

Not really. You could have it as an uncontrollable infected like the witch or and set spawn like the tank. Having said that, it would take a lot of work for them to add a new special infected with versus not being either totally impossible or just exactly the same.

Threads like this make me really glad that people on message boards who make and perpetuate these threads do NOT and have little chance of EVER working as game developers or designers.

Seriously. These ideas would all ruin the game, and most of the people posting would be crying and moaning about it if these ideas ever made it INTO the game because then they'd understand how terrible they'd be.
