This is WORSE than the ACTA bill that (luckily) was thrown out.

We have to act on this!

It isn't a threat to the internet, it's a threat to American companies.

All it will take is ĞöøģĨê or ßîʼnġ to be formed overseas and we'll be straight back to where we started.

The chain of thought baffles me. Just simply stop wasting money on combating things that will always outsmart you within five minutes of you claiming it is the greatest thing to have ever been discovered.

The biggest threat to the internet as we know it and not one reply?
It's not a big threat. It's stupid and wasteful, but that's it. Also, it will never pass.

It'll never make it through, and if it does there'll be a lot of angry (and probably violent) people who will oppose it.

Yeah, we've already gone through this in Australia. Americans will have less trouble dealing with it than us via the US Bill of Rights. If you can stretch Freedom of Expression to cover multi-million dollar donations to political campaigns by corporations, you can stretch it to cover this.

It won't even if it makes it through congress Obama will veto, especially this close to the election, he will not want to alienate the young vote

The internet is internationl (hey that rhymed). It's not called the USAnet or the Amerinet for a reason. Certain cultures don't mind language others do. They can't censor something global.

Yeah, i dont see this happening. Its going to be stopped, and if it does go through, then people are going to call for its removal. There's not much to worry about here.

This is just, such total BS. I think what scares me the most about it is that no matter how much we voice our displeasure with such a horrid thing it's going to get ram rodded through congress regardless because everyone involved with it will be in the pockets of the lobbyists trying to get this crap approved.

In case you're wondering, yeah I lost faith in the integrity of my government a long time ago and it scares the shit out of me to know the people can't do a damned to make them listen.

They been trying to pull this crap for couple years now and each time it doesn't go through. With the election year coming up and the army of lobbyist that google has prolly sent out to stop this it won't go anywhere.
