New Items for a Zelda game

The Zelda franchise is my favorite video game franchise of all time. The classic story of Link fighting the evil forces of Ganondorf to rescue Princess Zelda and save the land has been retold in so many ways. A story that can be retold differently each time and still provide enjoyment. The Legend of Zelda series is simply a classic story of fantasy, adventure, and imagination. However, if theres one thing that has not changed significantly are the items/weapons. Throughout the Zelda franchise we have been introduced to items and weapons either introduced in one game or enhanced/remodeled in later installments. Sure the Hookshot and Longshot were changed to the amazing Clawshots, but the majority of the weapons in the Legend of Zelda franchise are relatively the same.

Therefore I began to ponder what I would like to see in the series, in terms of items and weapons. What are some of your ideas for items in a Zelda game?

Weapons:
Monkey Staff: This staff comes from Chinese mythology of the Monkey King, known from the famous novel, "Journey to the West" by Wu Cheng'en. According to legend, the Monkey King's staff was known for being able to extend endlessly. Therefore, the staff's extending ability could easily be incorporated into the gaming mechanics. For example, the staff could take care of far-away enemies or boost Link up to hard-to-reach areas. The possibilities are endless. Plus, it would interesting to see Link try staff fighting.
Zora Dual Chakrams: The boomerang is awesome (I think we all can agree on that), but the Zoras don't really have a weapon to call their own apart from the Longshot and Clawshot. However, I feel that they missing out on some interesting possibilities with a weapon that can be used for long-range and close-quarter combat.
Goron Bolas: Stops charging/fleeing enemies in their tracks.

Potions:
Mirror Potion: Creates a copy of yourself for a few moments that will mimic your actions. Perfect for fighting multiple enemies at the same time or using them to hold down a switch to a door in a temple, dungeon, etc.

Anyway what are your ideas?

Goron Gloves: Allows you to lift almost all objects and throw them.

Dual-Wielded Swords: ...

That's all I have.

Let's see:

A hanglider/wings.
A stick that shoots lightning.
The seismic generator which can create earthquakes and re-arrange temples.
A sonic screwdriver.
The dagger of escape from DOTA (teleports you a short distance away).

And I'd really like to see the Ocarina of time brought back and used for at least minor time control, like slowing time.
I'd really like to see a new version of Majora's Mask with time travel and masks, but I guess that won't happen any time soon.

Sounds a bit like the bracelets that made you very strong in Wind Waker.

I can't think of one to be honest, but my favourite weapon in the series is probably the ball and chain from Twilight Princess. It's a massive ball on the end of a chain, whats not to like?

Shut up. If you're going to say that, at least paste a link to the existing thread, or your point isn't valid. If that's all you're going to say, don't bother contributing to boost your post count.

OT: Some sort of stealth device would be interesting. It'd add a new dimension to the game for sure.

The wand of shaking. Given Nintendo's latest trend Link will find this magical item, and by shaking it like someone in the midst of an epileptic fit, the game will be won. It promises to impress mindless casual gamers across the globe, what more could Nintendo ask for?

I like the staff idea as i would like to see Link portrayed as a wandering vagabond type character, more like a woodsman or hunter than a warrior (and slightly more roguish in character). And I think it would fit in with these:

2-section staff allowing Link to fight with a single staff or two short ones, like an escrimador or kali martial artist

A blowpipe to paralyse or put an enemy to sleep

A net for slowing down/stunning fast-moving enemies or snaring, trapping groups of enemies

A buckler instead of a shield, and a dagger/poinard (spike that punches through armour) instead of a sword

A harp to replace the ocarina (sorry) that can be used to control animals/enemies and can summon the power of the wind.

It's been done - Magic Cape in 'A Link to the Past'
I'd like it to come back though.

TBH I want the next game to be The Legend of Zelda: Modern Warfare 3

Think of the items in THAT game!

Ah just ignore it mate. Any disliked reply you quote just brings that person back to the thread.

On topic, They should bring back the ol' Deku nuts, perhaps in different varieties, such as stum, knockback and elemental, ect. A stealth device you say? Perhaps you can get a tunic that does that, or wearing the same colour tunic makes you less visible in the same coloured backgrounds. No idea past that. Would be interesting indeed.

Or the bracelets in OoT that made you very strong. Or the gauntlets in OoT that made you very strong. Or the mask in MM that made you very strong.
