Does anyone hear that?... That's the sound of RedLetterMedia sighing in anguish.

Lucas should just drop the project. Leave the imaginations of those who are still loyal to you bridge the gap between the III and IV and leave it in their minds. It's just better like that.
Or better yet, just not interfere.

After all, Empire Strikes Back did well enough without him.

Did anyone read that bit in the wiki article:

'Originally, 100 one hour-long episodes were proposed, but at Celebration Europe in July 2007, producer Rick McCallum explained that it had the potential to run for up to 400 episodes, and "it?s something that can go on for years and years. One of the ideas is that we?ll have multiple series going on in about two or three years' time." This supports a description given by Lucas as "one show that will split into four shows, focusing on different characters."'

Does this strike anyone else as a bit brazen? Aiming to have multiple series in "two or three years" and with an initial aim to drag it out for "years and years". I mean 400 episodes is 20 YEARS worth of a single series (I'm assuming a 20 ep series, but it'll probably average out to about 22 given convention).

Even for Lucas, this smacks of hubris.

Oldish news. It was supposed to be out in 2009. then 2010, then 2011....freakin thing won't be out until 2013 as far as I can tell.

If Vos is in it cool. If Starkiller is in it, PLAYED by Sam Witwer, double cool. If the opening pilot has Jar Jar dropped into a pit of acid for being a rebel voice in the senate, then I will absolutely watch this show with the kind of devotion I give/gave Chuck, Dollhouse and Wonderfalls.

EDIT: The upside of a television series is that Lucas can't possibly write the whole thing, meaning he will have to let other, BETTER writers in on the deal. Possibly episodes or arcs written by Zahn, Stackpole or Matt Stover.

Please let it be so.

This particular breaking news is over three years old in the mumbling. Interesting to see that they've actually decided to go through with it.
I've got very very low expectations unfortunately, I don't think the franchise will fare as well as it has on the silver screen.

I'm definately going to watch it, and I'm open to the idea of it being decent. Since were not messing with the main story but just characters in the same universe, it can't be that hard to make something good

Sounds hideous. But then Star Wars has been a big bloaty cash cow for some time now.

Episodes IV and V were great. And everything but the ewoks in VI. I like my DVD versions of the original versions of the movies that I grew up with (Han shot first FFS!)

And I still believe that The Empire Strikes Back was the best of them all and Lucas didn't direct it. I really don't believe in his ability to direct humans - I pretty much regard him as a hack these days.

Damn Kenobi, as if you can't add any more to a saga made up of 6 movies, two animated TV shows, several games and comic books, dozens of novels and an animated movie.

EDIT: And a Christmas special.

Speaking of course as a brazen Star Wars whore, sadly, from the age of four (Return of the Jedi was the first film I saw in a cinema) I'm terribly excited. Though this news is a few years old. What ever happened to the idea of a Star Wars story/universe after ROTJ? Mark Hamill has aged perfectly to play a ROTJ plus 20 odd years Luke Skywalker and was rumoured to be involved. Although the idea of focussing on slightly minor characters/plots/worlds/etc is very interesting and I'm sure would entice fans and decent cast/crew/writing talent. Or is it only me that enjoyed the Ewok films of the mid 80's?
