I'm mostly a DC fan, but the Marvel studios movies are far ahead of the DC ones. It's sad but Nolan's interpretation has generally nothing to do with the source material other than a few names and concepts, it's not even realistic either it's still pretty fantastic.

I would say they are closer than what you describe at least the modern bats is. I do agree though they are very different beasts in a great deal of ways.

Well I gotta admit, I was all prepared to write the movie off as soon as I heard about it (seriously, when was the last time live action superman got given the treatment he deserves?). I'm a huge superman fan and I was really worried about Nolan and Snyder making it too dark or too realistic and not keeping in the things about superman that make him so enduring and popular. But from what I can see, the movie is shaping up to try and pull the whole "what's so funny about truth, justice and the american way" (or even "Grounded") type thing where they managed (to mixed success) to combine the dark gritty aspects of superheroing with the lighthearted fun that comes with it. And if they can pull that off, then WB cannot physically take my money fast enough.

I looks interesting, but I'm not sure about how little baby Kal-El becomes Superman and the awkward child to adult moments in between. Smallville did an awesome job to build up Clark and explain his origin, powers, and eventually taking up the mantel of Superman.

Not sure how they'll do that with Man of Steel, but I'm still going to watch it.

This movie had better work, because I'm really not in the mood for another Superman reboot.

The trailer looks very nice though, but then all trailers usually do. At least Snyder isn't writting the movie this time, but then Nolan is which means there's a high probability of... exposition. Let's hope Snyder reigns in his love affair with slow-mo and costumes, too.

Based on the trailer alone I would say they are moving away from the comic reality based super hero movies to more of a gritty real life version.

I am sure this will piss off some people, but I for one can not wait for this movie. The sequels may be less impressive if Superman becomes more and more immortal (didn't in one movie he moved a asteroid sized chunk of kryptonite?)

Anyway I never thought I would get excited about a Superman movie.

I'm getting tired of the constant reboots. Everything is getting rebooted left, right and centre. I would have preferred them to just "get on with it" and make a great Superman film. The coming of age/discovering his powers/becoming the man he's destined to become/etc thing has been done enough times already.

I'm going to watch it whatever happens, but I wish they'd quit rebooting every fecking "franchise" unnecessarily. I can suspend disbelief enough to accept a new actor in a role without much hesitation, I wish the studios would too.

Truth?

...meh.

Gambit has the right of it in that I'm also quite bored of the reboots, a few notable exceptions aside (Dark Knight trilogy, yeeeeee). Superman has never been my favourite hero - and I *tried* to be excited about this trailer. But...no. Not particularly interested. I'll watch if invited or if it finds its way into my BluRay, but it won't be because I went out of my way to see it.

Well, that was actually pretty good.
I usually find it hard to get excited about Superman in general, but that looks like it'll be enjoyable.
Yeah same here. I don't usually like Superman but I'm not gonna lie, this looks awesome.

It looks ok, better than the last one at least. Still it just kinda Batman Begins with a different costume to me.

Looks great, even to someone as unversed in Superman as myself.

Really liked the music too, reminds me very much of the soundtrack in parts of Black Hawk Down and Gladiator. Which is a god thing for me...

Looks like it's got a decent cast too. Only seen Michael Shannon in Boardwalk, but got a lot of time for him!
