Yes, there have been countless music threads like this before. And I don't give a damn. Any Search-Bar Nazis should leave this thread and troll elsewhere right now.

Anyway, now that's out of the way, the thread itself. What new music have you recently started listening to? By which I mean any music, old or new, but that you've only heard recently. What are you favourite songs from bands you've only just heard? As for my choice, it would have to be Ellie Goulding and Coheed & Cambria. Only just heard both of these, one because she's new and one because I hadn't heard of them until recently:

So what bands or artists have you only just got into, and what are your favourites from them?

[small]And yes, I did take the thread name from the name of NME in the UK...[/small]

Recent Bands I've gotten into are Dimmu Borgir (best album by far is "Death Cult Armageddon"), Eluveitie (best album is "Slania"), Equilibrium (fav album is "Sagas"), and Manowar (fav album is "Gods of War").

And thanks to Final Fantasy XIII, I recently bought "Echos" by Leona Lewis.

Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion. When I heard "Summertime Clothes" I was hooked.

Oh, and I've also recently been getting more into Jay-Z, mainly thanks to Empire State of Mind, and Collision Course. Planning on listening to all three Blueprint albums back to back, plus The Black Album, when I get the chance...

Yeah, I started listening to them a few months back thanks to Questionable Content. Haven't heard anything from the new album though, so I'll have to give it a listen when I get the chance...

Thanks to Fallout 3 I rediscovered my love of old big band (it was my dad's favorite musical style and I loved it as a little kid before my dad passed away). Keep in mind I'm late to the Fallout 3 party, having waited for the inevitable Game of the Year edition because I didn't want to spend $100 on the game + DLC.

Thanks to DragonForce I've also recently started getting into "new" thrash metal, stuff that's basically inherited the mantle of the stuff I listened to during my teenage years (which, for you late-stage Millennials, was before you were born!)

I suppose that really depends on how you personally define the period of time constituted by the word "lately". If we look back several months... well it would be a fairly unmanageable list, so let's just go back a few weeks instead.

Karmakanic - A side project of one of the members of the progressive rock band The Flower Kings which I semi-randomly stumbled upon via the "People who purchased this album also bought..." field on Amazon, and determined I adored. I've had their album Who's The Boss In The Factory? playing in my car for most of this week.

Orphaned Land - An Israeli heavy metal band that mixes progressive metal, death/doom metal, and Jewish/Arabic folk music together, whose latest album showed up on my Amazon recommendations list. A quick preview firmly cemented it's status in the "It must be mine!" category - I've since been recommending them to people whenever I get the chance.

Myrath - Another random find on Amazon, Myrath is a Tunisian progressive metal band with a lot of points of similarities with Orphaned Land. I just bought their second album Hope tonight, and am listening to it now as I type this up.

Just recently Getting into Amon Amarth, Flogging Molly, and The Expendables.
Only been listening to each of them for a week now, but I'm in love with all of them.

I've gotten back into Toby Keith, Kenny Rodgers, and Tim McGraw. Returning to my roots and all that jazz.

I discovered these guys a few weeks ago... Some might call them gimmicky, but I find them unique in a good way. It's some kind of crazy jazz/avant-garde metal.
