New Oddworld Game Coming

I loved Munch's oddysse, but sadly I couldn't finish it. It was just to hard for me at the time.

The only thing that surprised me about this news is that Just Add Water were involved in it - I've heard Maxis say that Oddworld Inhabitants have been working on something for a little while, but I wasn't expecting an announcement like this to surface for another couple of months, at least.
The only piece of concerning news, for me, is that whole "your favourite Oddworld characters" part. I realise that people want to see the quintology be completed and whatnot, but I really enjoy Oddworld as a world and an atmospheric backdrop to whatever story Oddworld Inhabitants want to throw at me.
Although I adore characters like Abe, Stranger and V.P Aslik, I really just want to see Oddworld Inhabitants go as crazy as possible with new creatures, settings and characters because the way they design them is amazing. I can't help but feel that the quintology might limit the creativity of Oddworld Inhabitants - I think it could be argued that Munch's Oddyssey wasn't very good for that reason.

Yay, that's great news. I loved the old 2D oddworld games and can't wait to see how this one turns out.
Oddworld gave me nightmares when I was younger, so the subject still kinda leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but still totally happy that they're making a new game, though. Abe does kick ass.

New Oddworld game makes my face happy. I recently downloaded Exodus and Odyssey on Steam during a furious bout of nostalgia and I was thinking "Why are there no new Oddworld games!?"
Which makes it hurt harder that its not Backwards compatable with the 360OANST said:

Anyway, ranting aside, this makes me very excited. And I honestly never thought I'd see it happen, but it is. This makes me happy.
Sweet. I only played Stranger's Wrath, but I loved the art direction. This should be interesting.
eh, I've never actually played these games, only heard of them. may give it a look when my girlfriend inevitably buys it.
I've been wondering about whether or not another Oddworld game would be made, and now that these rumours have hit the web, all I can say is "fuck YES"
I loved Stranger's Wrath, and although I never had the pleasure to play Abe's Exoddus, I've seen it plenty of times and it looks great.
Whatever they've got planned, I'm sure it'll be awesome for the majority of Oddworld fans.

I also agree in that I want to see something new. I love Oddworld, as a world. Anything they release already has the advantage of having a coherent and interesting backdrop. Oddworld is a world where anything goes, they should use that to their advantage like they have in the past (i'll admit that I was extremely dissapointed when Munch's dropped, both because of the 3D and well...no Abe but Munch...). For all I care they could even use a completely new type of gameplay. Aslong as the wit, charm, art direction and polish are there I can see it going well.
Hey, maybe they can craft a new story where you come across paths with Abe or so? Who knows? Maybe he's on of the guardian spirits of the Moudokens now. That would sort of work.
Anyway you look at this, this is great news. Yes, the potential to fk this up is always there, but in my mind I had already written off Oddworld.
