Morrowind and Oblivion.
GO NAO
This!
And you might exclaim "But sir! They are on consoles too!" and I shall say "O wretched one, the modding community is so great I have played the game 30 times over, with more mods each time! It's like a whole 'nother game with the wonderful gift of mods!"
Keep in mind I lost a good chunk of a couple years to each of those games. About 2000 hours on both of those combined, I believe. Somewhere in that neighborhood. See you after 3 months of solid game time!
i really know nothing about oblivion, besides vague references, and have no idea what morrowind is. what kind of games are they
RPG, extremely open ended with huge maps to explore. Medieval fantasy. You can look up the series on the UESP [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page]. It has literally tons of quests that took over 80 hours to complete. On a game that I played where I did it all, every quest, every oblivion gate, found and explored every location, it clocked in at 275 hours. The game can be adjusted via difficulty slider from piss easy godlike rampage mode to balls to the wall hard, and can be ramped up even higher with mods.
All in all, if you're even VAGUELY interested, the GOTY edition with the expansion Shivering Isles is 20 bucks. Go get it.
Of course I haven't played Morrowind nearly as much as it deserves, but I was from the Oblivion ilk, introduced to it shortly after its launch, and thus the entire series. So, yeah. Get it. You wont regret it, and if you do, its 20 bucks, probably could get Morrowind for 10 bucks completely new. Almost no risk.
