For example, religious celibacy has only been a thing for the Roman Catholic church for 500 years. For the Byzantine Catholic Church (which I am a part of) religious celibacy has only been a thing since the 1920's. And even then only because a group of Roman Catholic priests objected to the double standard.
Hell, Anglican priests who convert to Catholicism are not required to be celibate even now.
So I think the whole thing should be scrapped.
