Anyone else getting a bit of a Guyver vibe from the armour? From the looks of the image, one of Elizabeth Banks's schemes has been foiled and there having some sort of discussion, will wait for a trailer before making a judgement.

I need to see them move. Images don't give the full scale of what's happening and how the suits work in combat. Lately I don't trust movie promo images anymore.

As a matter of fact, I do get a Guyver vibe from the armor. What I don't get is any kind of Power Rangers vibe.

This is exactly how I feel about this. If you want to make a Guyver movie, make a damn Guyver movie. It's not like this isn't the perfect time to do just that. But if you're going to make a Power Rangers movie, make it a damned Power Rangers movie.

And don't use that stupid edgy video as a source either, that was made as satire of that very type of crap and it's genuinely sad so many people didn't realize it.

I'm not sure what I find more off putting...

-the fact the helmets are open faced, the weird
-The shiny carbon/fiberglass look of the armor
-The weird and distracting patterns on the armor
-Or that they went in the opposite direction and decided to give the guys titty armor, instead of giving the girls real chest plates.

I know 'reimagining' is happening and everything, but even the Robocop reboot was able to keep near the mark. Why in the hell can't the Power Rangers?

Dear god, I hate that armor. Just... too much for the cheese that is Power Rangers. I'm afraid the movie is going to take itself way too seriously.
I dunno how you can possibly get "too cheesy" for Power Rangers of all things. It looks goofy and weird, yes, we can both agree on that though

I'm really hoping that the helmets slide onto their face to form a super cool mask. Because if this is one of those movies where the main actors must have their face shown at all times, well, it isn't evidence that this movie will be bad but it is like finding a lone rusty screw on the floor of a rollercoaster.

For those complaining about the open faced look of the helmets. We've seen them with the helmets fully closed and that's how they'll be in fight scenes just like Iron Man. It would be too difficult to animate the onbviouslt CG fight scenes with the helmets open. The Helmets on the TV show have always been able to open as well.

My biggest problem is that the suits just look a bit too busy. The design doesn't have enough of a stable color pallet to latch onto. And the fact that the fights will be mostly CG and not the Martial Arts the series is known for really irks me.

I still think they'd make good Pscyho Rangers. That's the vibe I'm getting off them.

They do look a lot more recognizable like this and like they could function as a protective suit. Bit too busy for my tastes though and IMO a bit of a hodgepodge of design influences ranging from Guyver and Iron Man to Nolan Batman.

The original tokusatsu spandex costumes looked kind of silly at times (especially when they erupted into sparks upon hit), but they were clean and simple, and ultimately, iconic.

Although it is nice that the Yellow Ranger is no longer obviously a dude while in costume, although it does look like suiting up gives both ladies a bit of an upgrade in the chest department.

It's a bit offputting, but I can get behind it. It isn't the first time that the retractable visor design has been used in Power Rangers (that goes at least as far back as Ninja Storm), and in a movie, you want to see as much of the actor's face as possible, in theory. Same reason why Iron Man and Samurai have the "zoom ins" through the visor.

And looking at the comments, yes, Power Rangers (the original) was cheesy. Even when the series is at it's best, it's still cheesy. I don't think the movie is obliged to follow suit though. No, I'm not asking for something like that fan film being played straight, but unless Dino Charge really shook things up, Power Rangers seems to have actually regressed in its quality of writing with the return to Saban (at least when compared to some of the Disney seasons) and that was never a high bar to begin with. Doesn't help that most children's programming has actually improved over time when compared to its predecessors. So if the movie can retain the "fun factor" while also providing emotional investment (ala Rami Spider-Man), then yes, I'm all for it.

Never has a team of rangers looked so bored, I think the blue ranger 's gonna fall asleep.

You know, I can get behind the look of that armour. There's just one problem I have: Even though the helmets are perfectly proportioned for human heads, they make the faces look too long for some reason. It's the visors, I think. :\

Meh. Really don't like the look. So many movies have successfully translated (in a visual sense at least) comic book characters into on-screen versions, how hard could it have been to do for a fucking TV show?

The outfits look busy. They wouldn't look out of place as a Guyver or even a Kamen Rider with the chiton armor design. Makes me wonder how freely they move and if we'll see any martial arts in these suits not fully rendered in CGI. This is the first image I'm seeing of this, and I have no intention of seeing this, so it might work. I can only parse so much out of a still image.

I think someone was showing off a different design as a joke but they said yes and they got stuck with it.
