The camera work was a bit... Jason Borne, but, I think it could be really good once they get into their stride with it.

Dara was great and the whole show in general was pretty fun to watch.

Hopefully it keeps going.

Oooh will have to watch this.

I really do hope robot designs are more diverse, one thing I kinda hated in the old RW is once a robot design was proven to be super effective, they became the trend for following seasons, such as the ones with spinning discs or the "flipper" kind of robot.

The house robots were always the best thing because they actually broke the mold.

Double yet for time commanders! Though I expect modern teams to be much more competent and savvy with rts games then the previous teams used to be.

What do you think of the new format? I think I prefer the old robot wars, where robots were generally shittier and less considerately made. Now they have self-righting designs as standard and armour so thick that most weapons are totally useless. It also meant that, with the exception of Carbide, most matches would only end with robots being shoved into the pit without taking any real damage. Also, I liked the variety of match types, whereas now it is just duels which all seem to end the same way.

Fucking Razer, man...
Right in the child hood. HOW COULD YOU, RAZER, I HAD FAITH!

But yeah, I enjoyed the shit out of it and I'm 100% watching the rest. Looking forward to more Carbide after that very impressive showing against Nuts and the showing against Behemoth.
I don't think I have ever seen Razer win a tournament. I remember when it first came on the scene, and it was basically the only robot on there that looked well crafted and not thrown together. But even back then it was always breaking down or getting caught on the floor or whatever. Carbide looks unstoppable though.

So, is this worth watching, or will it just ruin the memory of something that was amazing? And please tell me there are no hashtags involved.

Apparently the BBC is rebooting a few of old classics to fill the gaps in its current lineup with even time commanders apparently returning to our screens soon, you tube kinda beat it to the punch with similar videos using total war hammer but i am still excited.
Wait. Time Commanders is back? As well as Robot Wars? Could this year get any better? (The answer is yes - they could bring back that paintball show that was on Channel 4, I think). And a rebooted Time Commanders could be amazing given the Total War series' expansion into different times and regions. How did I not hear about this...

If they really want to bring this year to a close as one of the greatest years of British television they need to resurrect Scrapheap Challenge and go back to letting Yorkshire farmers go up against inner city Glaswegians in a contest of who can weld together the most mobile pile of scrap for a given challenge.

Damn, another robot battle show coming back? I should get on this soon, it's a good time for nostalgia. Hah, next up you'll tell me we'll see a return of Time Team.

...

[small]Britain please bring back Time Team.[/small]

Ugh yes please. The first few seasons of that were absolutely superb. Robot Wars, Time Team and Scrapheap Challenge were staples of my childhood and early teenage years.

The Telegraph seems to think similarly, why have the Chris Evans Shouty Show when we could have had this?

I have to say, I find miss Craig Charles... The man brought a great deal of charm to the old show (That and his ridiculously tassled coat). Dara O'Brien is a good comedian and knows his mathematics and engineering so he'll be a damn good host but I still miss Craig Charles...
Seconded. Dara is great, but Craig had a certain charm, especially as I was bouncing back and forth between this show and Red Dwarf at the time.

I think it's just that Craig Charles always seemed excited about everything that was going on, like he was just a big kid getting to watch awesome robots smash each other up. It helped that some of the teams contributed to the slightly odd atmosphere of the show, for example, Diotor;

I hope Diotor comes back...

Loving it! Glad to see the back of Craig Charles, i think he ruins just about everything he's in except Red Dwarf (and looking back at Season 7 its clear he's useless without Chris Barrie) but i'm gonna miss Phillipa Forrester and her bare midriff!

I can say I am very very salty about the first bout, I hope they get a second chance at it.

I will also say Carbide's weapon is NASTY.

Lastly, WHERE IS SGT BASH?! Sure his flamethrower wasn't really worth much (looked cool though at least) and his claw wasn't up to snuff with Kill-a-Lot's, but he was still pretty wicked.

Sense each heat seems to have a returning bot got to wonder who else will be back. Shame Razer got knocked out then we could have Tornado and have a good ol grudge match.

First Battlebots then Robot Wars its like im a kid again.

One thing I noticed they haven't done in comparison to the new battle bots is allow much stronger weaponry. That or not bots have utilized it.

They didn't bring Sgt Bash in for this season but they have mentioned possibly bringing him back for future seasons. It wouldn't be the same without Diotor though since that thing was Bash's favorite prey.

Say what?

I literally four days ago caught that BattleBots is back on (a year late, I'm terrible) and now there's Robot Wars?

...

I can't find it on my American tv.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot.
Is it even airing in the U.S.?
It doesn't looks like it.
