Anyone have some good ideas for a new sci fi game? only one thing I dont want mentioned...zombies... But heres my idea... Space barbarions are attacking the edge of civilized worlds with a purpose. You must go and stop them, and on your mission you discover a horrible plan that the leaders and AI's of the civilized worlds are cooking up, and the true intention of the space barbarions.

No zombies? Hmmmm... Killer veggies from space! Tomatoes and cucumbers as a canon fooder, Broccoli as a main boss. There. And you are armed with a flamethrower-escue device that shoots cheese sauce.
Sweet! sounds like a game I could get into, squashing evil space squash and all.

how about a single man with the power to destroy worlds being controlled by a group of mind manipulating super bugs? later into the game we give the moral choice of continue your path of destruction or turn on those who seek to control you and use your powers to protect those who need it.

An RPG set in a post-apocalyptic galaxy - one that has just seen an intergalatic war of epic proportions. Most of the galaxy consists of massive debris fields and worlds that are only sorta habitable.

Bursting out of a big glass tube you suddenly see men in white coats running toward you, the only logical option is massacre them.
Que the free roam stealth game around a large city (slums, factories, hospitals, huuuuuuge sky scrapers with luxary apartments), you have to hide to survive other than that, w/e you feel like doing is ok.

You can choose to follow the intricate twisting plot about the army funding the research, the government pressuring them to do it, the alien/mutant/other city/zombie horde that's threatenng the government, and the evil rich man who is pulling strings to get them to do it, just so that his wife can have revenge on......
well it would go on a bit, but there would only be hints and clues, and you would need to use some detective skills and proper research work to get around all that

but then of course you don't have to follow the story, you could spend three days just breaking things, scaring people to death, making a nest, and enslaving the entire city while the army/police/special services try and hunt you down and other events carry on around you, like that alien horde invading

sound fun?

I'd like to see a time travel game in which you can travel to many different eras in time. What you do in one time period then has effects on both the past and the future. You not only have to solve the problem or quest that you set out on to begin with but you also have to try to keep from totally messing up history in the process. That would be cool.

New idea- You have created a class I AI. It has control of omegaentropic feilds. But, foolish one, you are not alone. Now you must destroy the other beings with these capabilities spread out across time and space and infinity.

I think a cyberpunk GTA would be pretty cool. Because A) the series needs a serious kick up the ass and B) getting retractable blades put in your fingers is more fun than a new haircut.

A game based on the book "Roadside Picnic."

Except this time, there's less bugs, and it's more about the Zone than gunfights.

(This thread reminded me; I still need to go torrent "Hard to be a God." Thanks!)

A videogame based off of Quantum Leap, you get to spend the first five minutes of every level trying to figure out where you are, with a pause screen labeled "why haven't I jumped yet?"

A good sci-fi game for me is all about technology, set far in the future where space travel has become something normal, you the hero/heroine, are set loose in a fast galaxy with only a little spaceship and need to fight/trade to get new technology or credits. Acquiring new technologies to give your ship better shielding, a cloaking device, better interstellar drive, different types of energy weapon etc. You can land on planets and explore them to find resources, board space stations to stretch your legs and trade, design and produce your own fleet of ships, interact with every person you come across and join your faction in massive battles to save the day.

basically a cross between the 'Master of Orion' series and the 'X³' series with even more options

Fuck space, go for good and proper steampunk & scientific romance. Not sure what I mean? Look it up. It'd be an amazing backdrop for a game.

I want a game that starts out on a nice, beautiful little idyllic planet, inhabited by various species of aliens that are able to peacefully co-exist and live together in harmony, just as an interstellar invasion fleet warps into their system, their orbital defences are obliterated by nuclear strikes and an army of evil, dastardly humans land on the planet, hell-bent on obliterating the lot of them.

Then you take the role of one of the human soldiers, slaughtering technologically inferior aliens on their turf.

Either that or a Beyond Civilization game. Starting again in Post Apocalyptica, rebuilding your civilisation, then taking on the other various civilisations of the world, all of whom believed you totally started it. Complete with raiders, mutants and an incomplete tech tree that changes from game to game, relying upon negotiated/stolen tech from other civs and hidden underground research labs full of pre-war goodies to fill in the gaps. Your standard victories apply - conquest, diplomacy, tech - except that the tech ending branches off, giving you the option to invent the Genesis device to restore the planet to it's former glory, thus making everyone love you, or get your arse to Mars, where there's a nice stockpile of interplanetary warheads that were abandoned before the war, which you can then use to obliterate the last of your enemies, but causing a new apocalypse.
