It was a big mistake letting the original composer leave, I love his songs, and the woman singing is even better

Personally I'd think that at this point the best way to honor the Silent Hill series is to let it die. I'll admit there is a small chance of the game being good, there is also a chance that M Night Shyamalan will make another good movie... I just don't see either of those things happening.

Sounds really spooky. I really hope Vatra will succeed in making it a great game. There was not a good game created by czech studio in past years (with sole exception of Machinarium)...

Yeah, that was awful. Time to purge with Silent Hill 1's ambient noise music (which is far more "iPod worthy" than this abomination..)

Why don't they just let Silent Hill just die?! Seeing it getting raped like this saddens me immensely.

After listening to this track the homage seems genuine. It really does sound like Silent Hill music. Of course one track will need to have that horrible droning noise.

Very spooky.

I should reserve my judgement, but I get the overwhelming feeling that this is going to be absolutely awful.

Probably something to do with the fact that very few Westerners really have any grasp on the surreal at all, which is seemingly something that comes very easy to the East. I was watching what is Japan's equivalent of a Hollywood movie, caled 20th Century Boys (great film and great manga, check it out!) and all of the transitions had this very Lynchian vibe to them that gave you the imperssion of moving between worlds, moving between realities, altering your state of consciousness.

Westerners can't seem to get their head around much more than straight cuts.

That's just one example, but I really don't get the feeling this is going to amount to much at all, which saddens me.
That's a bit of a generalization. As far as movies go, there are some very surreal and amazing Western movies. Perhaps you should go online and look up a few.
Yes, the Japanese due surreal well, but they aren't the ONLY ones.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a surreal movie, yet it is very very good.

I know there's plenty of great Western surrealist cinema, but the Japanese seem to have a better basic understanding of it than we do on a fundamental level.

Well if that clip is any lead, it won't be devastatingly bad. But I guess I've been spoiled by Amon Tobin and his game music. I always expect a bit more now.

Not bad, but the general vibe rather fits Alan Wake. I think what's most out of place is the drums on this track; Silent Hill is more about bells, chimes and the sound of big, hollow metal objects clanging and screeching against each other.

Never before have I been so excited about deeply disturbing nightmare fuel!
And don't forget the child abuse.
Silent Hill isn't anything without people dying to supernatural horrors because of someone abusing children.

But yeah, it sounds like it would be a good contribution to a new iteration of the Silent Hill franchaise.

It's sounds good thus far. Really need to see how it helps set the tone for the game as a whole though. That is the true test.
