They already did a re-release of FF7 on the PSP and the PS3 not very long ago if I remember right.

It might have been a gauge to see how high interest really was.

The one for psp is a prequel, not a remake.
The ps3 was a demo-ish thing that was never really released.

Wow, I guess the Final Fantasy 7 full game download that has Cloud and Barret that I've been playing on my PSP am currently in Kalm on. looks like ass and paid $10 for is Crisis Core then.

O wait, it's the original FF7 that I've been playing. And it's downloadable for the PS3 as well. Check the Playstation Store more often, it's under "Playstation Classics"

That would be a re-release, not a remake then. And whilst I'm aware you stated it as a re-release, I think this discussion is regarding a remake. A re-release isn't really worth getting excited about, since the true fans would probably just have kept the original game.

I swear... why is square so reluctant to make a FF7 remake (of the best selling game in the franchise) but they jumped all over 10-2(which, may I remind you sucked giant donkey gonads)

All the developers are scattered to different projects. They want to, but don't have time.

It could very well be an FF7 remake, since the tower-ish looking thing in the background reminds me of the ShinRa building.

I just kind of skimmed for links, it doesn't seem like anyone posted it, but someone found hidden artwork that appears to be for something else. Or. You know. Square Could have finally just wised up about the damn teasers and people figuring out stuff just by looking through the backgrounds and finding hidden pictures or looking through the code.

Read the post you just quoted where I acknowledge that you specified it as a re-release. Then read the bit about how that is irrelevant as fans would already own the original and want to see a remake with updated graphics.

I'm going to bet on this. The art style does look similar.

Anything like a FFVII remake would be just ludicrous. A FFVII remake is about as likely as us getting Duke Nukem Forever. :B

To echo what someone else said: Blood of Bahamut [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_of_Bahamut] is being released in six days, which is when the countdown will end. Considering that it's the Japanese website (.co.jp) for Square and Blood of Bahamut only has a Japanese release date currently, logic (that's the stuff real people use rather than speculating that it "might be the ShinRa tower!" in a vain hope for a FF7 remake (it's not going to happen, give it up)) dictates that it's counting down to BoB.

I hope that it is a FF7 remake, just so that fans of that game will finally stop hoping and speculating about EVERY game SE says they are working on. I am not a fan of the FF7 universe, but I get why a lot are. Advent Children was pretty sweet and that's all I want to say about it. If I had to choose a Final Fantasy universe to continue (besides FF4) it would be FF6 or FF8.

Personally I like to imagine every new SE game will be a sequel/remake of *Vagrant Story*, or even Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia/Terranigma.

The least likely thing will be a new Legacy of Kain game as they recently aquired Eidos, right?

Or, ya know, something original.
