TLDR: TF2 is now on the Mac and the Engineer has an engraved(and scoped, by the looks of it) shotgun.
looks more like a laser sight to me but then again i did think it was a gas chamber for some sort of gas powered shotgun...wouldnt that be awesome

EDIT: FIRST ON THE 2ND PAGE!!
Do you mean an auto-shotgun? That would be pretty crappy. Not bad necessarily, but overpowered. The laser sight would be okay, but I don't think it fits in TF2
some sort of auto-shotgun maybe im not saying it will be in just throwing some ideas out there

and a laser sight would be so awesome for the engi it would be an original item in TF2

or some people are hoping thats its like some weird bolt shooter that can shoot screws and upgrade your buildings from a distance

im hoping that too

I'm still gunning for my nail gun that repairs buildings from a distance.
Was that pun intended?
And why couldn't they have a sentry update?
However, Valve may do that and throw this shotgun hint away

I honestly don't even care what that shotgun is as long as I get it. Practically all I play is the engineer...I needs me that update. : (

Just a quick note: The "Morgan" gun mentioned above is essentially a crap shotgun that can be deployed as a weak but instant mini-turret. If that's what it is, very cool idea.
Amazing. I'd personally be hoping for the option to scrap the level 3 sentry and build 2 or 3 level 1's myself. Level 1 sentries can be useful in the right spots.

a scoped shotgun? that's interesting, shotguns are typically short range weapons in video games (I'm aware hunters use scopes on their shotguns on occasion, but that's not how shotguns work in video games)

I'm interested to see what allows it to compensate for the lack of range.
The shotgun in Crysis kills people at 100+ meters more reliably then the AK-47 ripoff with the spread set to "tight" and a decent scope when fired from prone+strength. It also works wonders for sniping the squids off the larger aliens before they drop them and the green one puts up a shield in Warhead.

I don't think it's a scope necessarily on the Engy's presumed shotgun replacement.

For one, the Engy is right-handed, and the scope is on the right-side of the gun, which means the Engy would switch hands to look through the sight.

I'm guessing it'll do something specifically different(Blutsauger, Nastasha) as opposed to the alternative-with-slightly-tweaked stats(like the Direct Hit or the Force-of-Nature). Maybe like an anti-spy gun? Blast the disguise off spies? Short-circuit their watches?

If that is actually a scope then I'd say that gun was a pump action rifle, but the loading gate is too wide for rifle rounds, and it doesnt seem in character for engi.

It's probably a shotgun/ slug gun type thing with a larger magazine (the picture shows a long magazine tube) that does better ranged damage, and the thing on top might be some other Valve-craziness. I dunno, just a thought.

And yeah, the new menu is pants. It would be ok, if the buttons wernt so fuckin big. They clutter up the screen and make it look ugly and clunky. If they were smaller, and in a more subdued colour, I wouldn't actually mind them.
