I have recently learnt the Japanese Hiragana (ひらがな) alphabet (properly this time).

I am moving onto Katakana (カタカナ), then eventually Kanji (漢字) once the first two are practically second nature.

I learned how to properly prepare Japanese cuisine. It wasn't perfect since I used a bit too much vinegar but everyone liked it. :)

First off, I did use the searchbar. How effectively is up to you searchbar nazis.

Okay, basically what the thread title says. Over the past few days, is there anything completely new you have learnt? It can be some sort of epiphany, applicable knowledge or even a completely new skill...

Well, today I needed something to do, so I took out this book that tells me how to do practically anything, and I taught myself how to waltz. That's right, I spent Christmas eve waltzing with myself.

*and... 1,2,3,1,2,3...*
This year I took up dancing, running and golf.

I can do the tango, the waltz... most of it. Just pull a serious face and pretend to know what you are doing, and the ladies won't see the difference anyway. And my golf handicap is at +2.7 right now, I actually have a sponsor already :D It only gets me like 1800 euro's a year, but still nice.

good luck. hiragana and katakana don't take too long, but don't pressure yourself too hard with the kanji. i've been learning japanese for 8 years and counting, and i still only know about 600.

anyway, over the last few days... well yesterday i learnt that i can in fact play rock band on a rock band guitar. the buttons are a bit harder to feel and that kind of puts me off, but it is playable. that was a good thing to learn.

Have fun with Kanji, I have been taking Japanese for 2 years and I have to learn about 881 characters by the end of this school year.
OT:I recently learned how to trap a computer virus into an external usb. Oh the fun and mischief I can have.
