You missed a lot of the real fun by 3 or so years, but it should be pretty fun if its your first time. Pick whatever class you feel most drawn to.
What do you mean?

lmao i know not to get addicted, its a video game, not crack :p
hahahahah you have no idea. Wow makes crack looks like nothing and there's no rehab for it. And just so you know warriors can be hard to lvl, much like priests. I personal dont want to lvl a warrior, Im happy with my rogue.

you can have up to 50 characters on an account. try as many combinations as you like, and stick with the one that suits you best.

just don't roll a male Blood elf, especially if you're a death knight or paladin. trust me on this one.

Priests are straight-up healers and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They learn a truly disgusting amount of healing spells, and can also deal a fairly respectable slice of Shadow damage, but I tell you again, if you don't like healing this is not the class for you. Priests wear cloth armour only, and can use one-handed maces, daggers, wands and staves. And no, they can't dual-wield.

let me tell you otherwise. play the game however you want. i met plenty of other shadow priests who refused to heal at all. just keep in mind that healing will almost always be much, much more useful to the group.

Don't get addicted and keep to moderation, and try not to spread your characters too thin, like having 20 characters under the level 20.

And, yeah, experiment. We can't tell you what's best for you to play. That's up to you.

Don't roll a Warrior, while they are fun, they're not wanted because another class can always do what they do, except better.

a few class and race selections i picked up on during my ten day free trial

dwarf - hunter
zombie - warlock/mage
nightelf - rouge/magical person
human - preist/warrior/palidan

almost every time someone invites you to a party chat and you don't know them, it's always some bot spamming gold buying websites.

and as a hunter, you won't be able to get the animals until you're a higher level

and also, exploration can nab you alot of treasure and sight seeing

such as when i used that flying boat and came to an ork town, i turned right around a went straight for the ocean and found alot of high level mirelurks

and i found a few treasure chests when i was at a farm (near the water)
__
and as something slightly funny that i just thought of

a warrior is like a heavy and a preist is like a medic

they will always be yelling at you to heal them and you will always be trying to not freakin die.

which would make a spy a rouge :D

Server is easily the most important choice you'll face. You'll want to find a server that is fairly friendly, roll on a few and explore them a bit, check out their realm-forums, if more than 50% of it is Trolling don't roll there, if less than 50% is trolling it's probably ok.

If you want to bash things with pointy sticks and rip their organs out with your bare hands, pick a warrior.

If you want to stab people in the back and poison them so they die slowly, choose a rogue.

If you want to burn somebodies face off witha single white hot ball of fire, choose a mage.

Knowing your playing style of any other RPG would help me right now.

If you read my earlier posts, i already said i liked to play the warrior-like classes in the RPGS that i have played

Paladins wear plate and can use all weapons with the exceptions of ranged weapons, wands and staves.
You're not very good at this. They can't use daggers either. They cant use fist weapons either

[Pickpocketing] (less fun and less lucrative than it sounds)
Fun? No. Lucrative? Yes. You can get all manner of things from lockboxes from a few silver to Bind on Equip epics. You can get someone to pick the lockboxes or open them with engineering or blacksmithing..
Just to correct your wise ass :p

Don't let it take over your life, it's indeed the best advice you can give before starting the game. I had fun with the game for 2.5 years, and I don't regret a single second of it, but that's only because I never let it take over my life.

*ahem*

Anyway, the faction and class you should start with should purely be chosen on personal taste. Every class starts out pretty basic and slowly gains more and more functionality and functions. The learning curve is really smooth, but do take the time to read the manual and all class descriptions.

If I want to give you a solid advice on what character/faction you would like, I really have to know more about your preferences in fantasy worlds in general. What was, for example, your favorite class/race in The Lord Of The Rings or something. What is your usual playstyle in RPG games, and games in general?

Let us know details like that, and we can help you a lot better.

im joing world of warcraft and am just wonding if you guys can give a noob some advice on what race/faction i should chose to go with what job class. i was thinking warrior because thats what i normally choose in RPGs but i dont know alot about each of the different classes, so any information you guys have would help me out alot.

thanks in advance!
Nice knowing you, kid. Before you play, don't forget to give up any hope for romance or keeping a good job in the future, for thar are no girls on teh internetz. And people lose their jobs over WoW. Seriously.

And some people get promoted because they work in an office full of WoW-playing computer nerds (my wife, for example). I would, however, caution that close to 100% of women/girls playing WoW are either playing because their boyfriends/husbands play and they use the game to get some time with their mates (the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" principle) or are otherwise taken by guys who don't play.

Just don't merge your in-game account and battle.net account. I did that just after installing the disc version, just before my free trial expired, and haven't been able to play since. If the sticky topic on the tech support forum is anything to go by, it's a regular problem.

1st off roll horde because i have played both sides and i just find horde to genrally be more accepting and helpful to new players while most of the ally people are like OMG UR T0T4L N00BSAUC3 RTFM U NUB LULZ!!! KKTHNXBAI. and if you roll horde, go blood elf since it's the only nice looking horde race and be a paladin. then once you hit lvl 10 start specing the shit outta ret and become an op whore like every other ret pally...srsly like 3k dps with only pressing 4 buttons or so

P.S Blizz nerf pallies plz lol

Dont be confused, this is actually a satirical rant from a horde paladin perspective.

Faction really depends on the realm you choose. If you play on an RP realm (Which you probably should, since they generally have fewer idiots) then there shouldnt be too many problems with choosing Alliance or Horde. Also, choose a class you really enjoy playing, otherwise it will just feel like a ton of work to level/improve your character.

Quit.

Just kidding.

Well, one advice I would tell you before starting is: Don't get addicted. Real life is more important than the virtual life.

But the race really doesn't matter, at least I don't think so. The only difference is the start special abilities.

As for class, it depends on what you play. If you like being a tank, take the Paladin or Warrior class. If you like being a healer, go Priest. If you like spells, go with mage, warlock, etc.

And while he's at it, he should stop playing video games. Seriously, those things are addictive.
