New Tomb Raider... anyone else...

from the things ive been reading on itm it seems they are going for a metroid/batman:AA type of style with some survival and phsycological horror elements. could work really well.

I dont really care how or why they change the character its the gameplay that needs a bit of fine tuning, so this looks good IMO.

I'm undecided.

Whilst it does look as if it could be amazing, I think I'd feel better if it didn't carry the Tomb Raider title and they let the franchise die. I grew up playing those games (I was six when the first game came out and started playing then), so my sense of nostaliga is angried by the thought of any kind of reboot.

But the series has been sucking for a while, so... I don't know. I think they would have been better off launching it as something new.

Not really.
The only good "Tomb Raider" game was Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and considering that it was barely even a Tomb Raider (IE: It really wasn't), I'm not a big fan of the series.
If it turns out to be some amazing platforming/action game, then I might look into it, but as of now I'm uninterested.

As far as franchise abuse goes, this is the equivalent of dragging a 90 year old woman with cancer and brittle bones out of bed in the middle of the night, taking her out into the street, then shooting the ground near her feet to make her dance.

Will someone please just put Lara Croft out of her misery.

Is it still being done by the same people who made Legend/Underworld? Because if so I'm not interested.

Hell even the original team at core managed to cock up epicly with Angel of Darkness. Eidos should have ended the franchise with 4.

The main thing that annoys me is that if they actually left it alone for a few years then gave it to a compotent development team it wouldn't be difficult to create a good reboot, as it is they're just keeping it half alive and just produceing continual mediocre titles.

i got a metroidy vibe as well as a bit of a feeling like that movie The Decent.

but then again it called all be hype and lies and itll be the same shit with a different skin

Like any other game, if it turns out to be well-made and entertaining I'll give it a look, regardless of how the previous entries have turned out.

I don't buy games based on hype anymore.

I haven't really liked any past Tomb Raider games. But considering that it's meant to be different and all that, I'm keeping an open mind. It could be fantastic, could be awful. I really don't know enough about what it'll be like to say yet.

Got turned off TR a while back but I must say, I like lara croft's "messier" look.

If game is solid, wouldn't mind giving TR franchise another try, I still remember the series heyday and how much fun I had back then.

I've never been a fan of the Tomb Raider series (mostly because I've only played the recent XBL one), but the reboot looks interesting. Hopefully they'll do interesting things with it.

I cant even say im impartial. The Tomb Raider series has been vomit for quite some time now and i dont think Sqeenix is prepared to hand down development tips to Crystal Dynamics in order to change that.
