ED-E wouldn't shoot anything anymore so I sent him back to base. LOOKING FOR NEW COMPANION! MUST BE GOOD AT SHOOTING THINGS.
Go to NOVAC and talk to the night sniper in the dinosaur do the quest for him where you find his wife and then he will come with u he is great hes a sniper so he rapes and he gives a perk that when you aim in it highlights enemies in red

Boone is probably the best companion in the game next to the Nightkin for hardcore mode.
Don't underestimate Arcade's +20% healing perk. And although he might not hit with every shot, he can hold his own in a fight, too.

Boone is a god! He just kills and that's it, I don't even have to move...I have ED-E but it's not great...keeps dying or just shooting randomers and getting me into fights...it's on passive mode, what the hell ED-E, just stop shooting random bandits I'm doing a non violence playthrough and I can't take more than two bullets.

Boone is an ammo whore tho, I wish we could limit that, but oh well. He does a great job regardless.

: )
Lol I had to leave Boone behind and take Veronica instead, because he was too good and kept stealing all my kills. She's more fun to be around anyway :)
That's just what I did! As soon as I finished his side quest, I benched him. I love him, he's an awesome character and his story is great, but he is too damn good with that gun. I never even upgraded him. Though I had given him a super sledge at one point, just to hold because it was heavy and I was encumbered, and the guy starts using it where ever he goes. It's kind of amusing watching someone else use that thing.

Also, nice tip I discovered:

If you're using companions, go to options and switch the kill cam to 'Player View', this means that you won't get sudden exploding radscorpions flashing onto your screen every five minutes, and get an awesome slow mo view of your gun reload after you kill things out of VATS.
Oh man, thank you. Fixing that now. I didn't even bother to check that you could.

In return, if you want someone to walk you through a hand of Caravan, let me know. ;) I could probably talk you through it.

my companion seems to stick to me like glue, its rex that keeps bolting off in some direction only to get into a fight and bring a throng of raiders right back to me. i swear, every time i try and go over a hill he thinks "i will just run around the hill" and then half way through his genius plan he has that dog instinct kick in *squirrel* and off he goes until he randomly appears in some fight i get in

the next patch should either come with a dog whistle or a leash
He probably saw someone in a hat. Or smelled a hat. Or a rat. ;)

He does, you need to get 'history points' with him. Boone's second quest [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/I_Forgot_to_Remember_to_Forget]

I want someone who can train me to use power armor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arcade Gannon's quest will get you that. It'll also get you Enclave armour. Arcade's quest [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/For_Auld_Lang_Syne]

Anti material rifle (for me) FTW. That's the only reason Boone has the sniper rifle in my game. Add the incendiary (fire bullets) rounds, and I don't care it takes more than a second and half to reload!

Having Rex run out to stop any death claws from advancing on us is also key.

It sucks that I switched to the girl and the drone... she hides behind me! The drone just plays that cowboy music and fires a weak laser. I haven't gotten his upgrade quests yet.

Boone is an ammo whore tho, I wish we could limit that, but oh well. He does a great job regardless.

lol I actually just went on a suicide mission with boon into caesar's palace to see if I could clear it out w/o buying any new weapons. Turns out I could, lv 14 with just hunting rifles I took from the dead and Boone blasting everything that comes in front of him, it was pretty simple given I didn't even bother to give'em a sniper's which woulda made it even easier. Tmw I'll restart save and do it again because the ballitic fist you get from caesar guard is deliciously broken atm. And ya ED-E laser as turned out pretty weaks looks like it really was Boone destorying everyone, I'd switch him for rex but ; ; it was my first companion and I grown attach to the floating bastard.
Did you get all of ed-e's chatter stuffs? I saw a vid online that has ed-e randomly (or placed) back story chatter that leads eventually to his quests.

That's the one thing I wished Boone had, another quest besides the: put on this hat and bring someone out to...

One reason why I am using the Brotherhood girl now is because I hear she has a nice quest line. That and she helps get into a certain place.

I want someone who can train me to use power armor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope no upgrade quest for ED-E yet. I've been running around so much I haven't bothered since I figured I might go with rex instead of ed. I wonder how much of an upgrade it'll give'em.

That would be great actually. I have no idea how to play it!

I dunno why but I have absolutely no interest in the gambling. I haven't even tried it, haven't even used the 50 free chips from Gomorrah.

I guess because every time I exit an area cell or bring my companions into Lucky 38 I feel like I'm gambling with fate... yes, the bugs kicked in later on. The whole game is one big gamble. I don't need more gambling! I find it hilariously ironic that the loading screen is a roulette wheel :D

Had 3 quests outright break on me in the final 3-4 hours of the game, and the very last one crashed 3 times right at its dramatic peak...

..and then...

...no free play after the ending. What. The. Fuck.

I am 50 hours in, and I still haven't gone any further than just meeting House and him sending me off to find his chip. I've been too busy with side quests. After reading your post, I'm thinking this is a good thing. Maybe by the time I wander my way back to the strip, there will be a patch. *crosses fingers*

But Caravan should be better than gambling at the strip, since you can play it with people like No Bark; you actually don't want to go into the strip to play it. And it's more strategy based, so you don't have to worry about the luck stat to make it worth your while.

The directions they give you are awful. I'm horrible at reading directions besides, I really need to learn as I go, so I just looked up the basics and muscled my way through it until I understood it.

I'll be playing this weekend, pretty much all weekend, :D so if you see me on, chat me when you are ready to give it a try.

I heard about the no free play thing, said something to my fella about it after you mentioned it on here. Since I haven't finished, he was wondering if it was plot based, like 3. Meaning they had plot reasons for it. I told him it didn't matter, since they put out DLC later that pretty much negated the final plot point in the base Fallout 3 game. The only reason I can think they did this is to sell DLC. It's quite annoying.

The Brotherhood put one on me at one point, a collar I mean, but it didn't shock... and I never found it after they took it off.

The official reason is that 'They could not have managed the amount of coding to apply all the changes to the Wasteland'.

The real reason, as you pointed out, is probably so they can charge for DLC.

Yeah, there are 4 unique endings and a bunch of sub-endings, but to code it would just be a matter of changing a few faction placements on the map.

And I hope the DLC has a goddamn fast travel point inside the strip!!

They should have just broken continuity. Basically anything you do after the point of no return won't effect any factions, etc in your post game story. I think I could handle that if it let me keep playing.

Oh my god, YES! That is so annoying! And fast travel should take you into a place, instead of just outside it. I fast travel to the med clinic... load...load...loading. Then I go into the clinic load....load....loading.

So frustrating.

Camp McCarran, The Mormon Fort, The Strip, Crimson Caravan... I sigh any time anyone asks me to go there because I know I won't be pressing any buttons for the next minute and a half.

if you help Hardin usurp the BoS elder he will teach you how to use power armor. Also if you do Arcade's quest you get to learn how to use it as well.

Boone is probably the most godly companion in any Fallout game, besides from glitched 3 super mutant behemoth, 16 Albino Radscorpion, 5 Deathclaw killing machine that is Dogmeat after Broken steel was installed. I went into the Fort the other day using only my fists, and had to take maybe 3 stimpaks because Boone was constantly head shotting the Legionaries before they could touch me.

This is becoming extraordinarily frustrating for me now that I'm doing hardcore. I cannot run past or otherwise avoid enemies or my companions will run at them and die. Even telling them to wait doesnt work.

[ragemode]WHAT FUCKING PART OF "PASSIVE" DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? YOU ATTACK EVERY ENEMY YOU CAN SEE, HOW IN THE FUCK IS THAT NOT "AGGRESSIVE" BEHAVIOUR![/ragemode]
